@Tanjowen: It's a splash pad... "nemo's park" or something. Very cute and right next to the pools. If it makes you feel any better, we never even went to it or the pools on board. Kinda crowded and our kids wanted to spend time in the kids club. So we just did the beach day on castaway cay which was amazing!!!!

@catlady: @petunia354: Oh man, I thought it was an entire baby pool, not just a splash zone. :bummed: I was excited because my LO loves the pool.

@petunia354: We had briefly talked about inviting DH's parents along, and it's sounding like an even better idea if we do the cruise. I was thinking about 4 days in length.

And kudos to you guys for surviving a cruise while sick!

@catlady: I agree with bringing a grandparent a long. We felt so sad at our little table for 3 every night at dinner, it seemed like every other family had grandparents and/or extended family with them! I also agree with the on shore activities, it was so hard to plan around naps and we never got to see any of the shows because DS was wiped every night. Most nights I had to leave dinner with him early because he just couldn't make it through. Totally not Disney's fault though, just a consequence on taking a toddler on a cruise.

DS also got sick on our cruise (not stomach bug) which sucked, but the on board doctor was nice and helpful!

I have!! We went around the same time as Mrs. Wagon.

Long story short, Disney is the BEST. DS was 23 months when we went which meant he couldn't go in the pool (their splash area for the non potty trained is really small, enclosed, DS had little to no interest in it) but I actually preferred it that way because we could spend more time exploring the ship and doing other things rather than on the pool deck all day.

What length cruise are you thinking of doing? We did a 7 night and it was too long. I think for a first cruise with a LO, a 3 or 4 night is so much better.

We tried using the babysitting service, (I think they charge $9.00/hr, which isn't bad) and they were absolutely fabulous. DS cried the whole time we left him there so we only used it that once but the staff was amazing and their level of security was something we really appreciated.

I think it totally depends on your vacation style preference. On a cruise you are going to be doing a lot and generally pretty busy. I would absolutely get a verandah room if you can swing it, I don't think I'd have as good of a review if we hadn't had one. A beach vacation will be more relaxing and you don't have to deal with potential motion sickness.

Let me know if you have any other questions!!

We just went on one in February when my LO was 16 months. I will start off by saying that my whole family came down with the flu and we were sick the entire time so our trip sucked. That being said, the cruise was really nice and I would like to go again when LO is older. I would probably not go again with such a young child unless I brought a grandparent along.

Good stuff:
- Service was amazing and went out of their way for us (even sent up meals from the dining room instead of making us use the room service when we were all too sick to go to dinner)
- The nursery was a nice feature and not too expensive
- Lots of characters around if you like that stuff
- They do have a few Disney Jr activities (like dance parties)

Bad stuff:
- Your 18 month old will not be able to go into a pool, he will have to stay in a small infant/toddler splash zone.
- Most of the activities are for older kids and you can't use the kids clubs until they are 3
- If your LO sleeps early like mine, you will miss every evening show or else trade off with your spouse or put your baby in the nursery
- Dinner time can be long for LOs
- We were too sick to do many shore excursions but even if we were well, we realized that my LO's nap schedule would have gotten really messed up

Hope that helps, wall me if you have any questions!

Has anyone on here been on a Disney Cruise? I am looking at summer vacations and torn between Mexico at a resort or a Disney Cruise. I like the Disney Cruise line because LO can get into their baby pool and I read they have babysitting services (he will be 18 months at time of vacation).

Anybody use the babysitting services? Did you like the cruise? Any reason to vote no and instead hit the beach?
