Okay ladies I bit the bullet and booked the hotel with dining plan. we also found out it was cheaper to book at a moderate hotel room than the pop cent!

TY!

It's definitely worth it. One year we didn't get it, and we spent significantly more money than we did the other years. Also, since they are running the special, it is most definitely worth it!!

@bunnylove08: I meant if you have to pay for the meal plan, I don't think it is worth it. Sometimes, it is included for free, so only in that case would I consider it.

@looch: well we have to pay for the tickets and we're not planning on visiting the parks everyday so we would ask to make our tickets non expiring ( i think they still do that)

Its 560 hotel only vs 1601 hotel, tickets and dining

Is it free? Then I think it's worth it, even for quick service. If you have to pay for it, I think you do better paying as you go.

It depends on what kind of budget you are on. I assume you'll bring a stroller anyways, so packing food shouldn't be a big deal. We usually ate breakfast before going in and packed one meal and lots of snacks. We just did our own quick service for either lunch or dinner once inside.

@sorrycharlie: DH and I usually do one meal and one kids meal when we go to disney. We always paid out of pocket. we don't get snacks or drinks at the parks (except when we have meals) i think the last time we went just the two of us it was about 200 on food for 3 days.

If you're only getting quick service meals then I don't know if it's worth it. Is there a dining plan that only has quick service meals on it?

When I looked into it a few years ago, it looked like there were a few tricks to getting the most bang for your buck. The conclusion I came to was that it was worth it if you read up ahead of time on how to make the most of it but that if you are the type to not pay the slightest bit of attention then it probably won't be worth it. It didn't sound like it require lots of tracking while you were there though.

@bunnylove08: I think it is worth it, but, we stay vacation club so we always have a kitchen. in that case it is not. if you are going to spend money on food anyway, divide cost by days and meals to see if you think it'll be worth it! my parents always split the quick service meals to save money, so we wouldn't have ever paid OOP for it - but one trip that we didn't stay DVC, it was free with the package. it was awesome in that case!!

DH, DD (will be 2) and I will be going to Orlando in December and will be vising my father and Disney world.

We're planning on splitting our trip (4 days at a disney hotel because I love staying at disney) and 3 days at my dad's house. I was wondering while we're staying at the hotel, should we get the dining plan? Is it even worth it for the two of us (disney says dining plan is really for 3 and over so we can get away with sharing with DD or getting her a side dish)

I would be getting the quick service meals and no character dining or anything. We would be staying at Pop Cent.
