We took our 26 month old to Disneyland for a quick trip, just 4 days. It was the most amazing experience. Purely magic for them at this age. She still talks about it and remembers even tiny details in a way that only a toddler could. So worth it to us.

Do it!! Seriously. Everyone's given great advice, esp regarding fast pass- waiting in line is the hardest part for toddlers so avoiding that as much as you can definitely helps. I went with my 8mo, my 7mo nephew and 3 year old niece and all three of them loved it. I would go every year is we could afford it.

@Mrs. Microscope please come back and post on how your trip goes with your 10-12 week old!! When are you planning to go?

We live 3 hours away from Disney and love it so I cannot imagine staying away for too long (DS due end of August). I am thinking about maybe going MLK weekend for the first time with him. Of course, that may all go out the window once he's here. We were supposed to go last week for a few days as a final "pre-baby" fun trip and had to cancel it with my threatened preterm labor and I'm so bummed! (of course, keeping him cooking is the #1 priority but I'm sure you know what I mean  )

I'd do it, especially since it's with your Dad...what I wouldn't give to have my parents be able to take my son to WDW!

Is your child still napping? If so, just plan around it and decide if you're staying on site or off.

This thread makes me smile. I love Disney world and the in laws have a gorgeous time share there and are already pushing the idea of taking LO at some point. I wanted to wait but don't know how long I can resist. Two years sounds doable.

Honestly, that sounds really tedious and exhausting to me, but I'm not a disney fan. I'll take my kids some day if they ever want to go, but absolutely when they're old enough to enjoy it and appreciate it. I'd only go with a young child if I or my husband was really into it, since a not even two year old isn't really going to care one way or another.

Taking our 10-12 week old this fall! Our friends are joining us with their 13 month old. We can't wait! We went last year with a 5 month old and he had a blast. Use the baby care centers, the rider swap for rides with height restrictions, enjoy the parades and the magic! Kids under 3 are free, so its worth it!

We're going with DD when she's 2.5 and I can't wait! I would definitely take her at 2 as well. Under 3 is great because they're free! I especially say go for it since it's not your only possible Disney trip--we also hope to go a few times in DD's childhood. I think them not remembering it is only a factor if it's a "once-in-a-lifetime" trip and you're doing it primarily for them, not the whole family--but I love Disney and travel so trips are as much for me as for her! Definitely take a lot of breaks and don't plan on taking it at a super-fast pace but I bet you'll have lots of fun!

definitely do it. just be prepped with snacks and drinks (water is a small fortune in the parks) and be prepared to go slow! the baby centers are awesome, too.

We went right before dd1 turned 2 last October. It was fun but there were some tough parts. Like she didn't like waiting in line or going in her stroller all the time. But she loved the rides and meeting characters. We also didnt push it too much. We went back to nap in the hotel after lunch and did pool time. Sometimes we didn't go back in the afternoon and we were ok with it.

I would do it too! We are HUGE Disney fans in our house, my parents started taking us when we were 2. Dd turns 2 this year so we will be taking her when she is 2.5. Im going with low expectations and to play it day by day, but I know she will have a blast.

I'd say do it! We've been to Disneyland at 14 and 18 months with LO and disneyworld at almost 3 and she had a blast each time. Yes, she won't remember it, but that doesn't mean it isn't awesome to see their little faces light up and that they don't have a blast! My suggestions would be to FastPass a couple of kiddie rides in advance for the morning, then do lunch and reevaluate then if your kid is up for more, or if they've had their fill for the day. You save $100 taking them before they are 3- Have fun!

I went with my niece and nephew when they were 4 and 2. At 2 they aren't necessarily old enough to really get it. But he still had fun meeting characters and going on rides. Plus at that age they're free.

I say go for it! We go to Disneyland often with our LOs (now 14 mo and 2.5 years) and we enjoy it. Sometimes we do half days but we usually do full days in the park. There are always a few rides we can all go on with relatively short lines and they looove the parades and shows. DD was afraid of the characters at age 2 but now she loves them. DS is still pretty unsure about them. They both wipe out mid day and will take about a 2 hour nap in the stroller.

I think it's awesome your dad is a Disney fan! That'll make the trip even more worthwhile and a special memory for him :)

Make sure you take advantage of the rider switch passes for the rides LO is unable to go on.

ETA: Also take advantage of the baby care stations, if you need to. They're great!

We're debating going down to Disney World for a short trip (3-4 days) when LO turns 2 in October. Does anyone have experience going to the parks with a young toddler? Do you think it's worth it?

The trip would be with DH and also my dad and brother, so we'd have help. My dad really wants us all to take a trip together, and he's a huge Disney fan, so that's why we're considering it. Btw, this trip wouldn't mean that we couldn't go back when LO is older. I'm just wondering if it would be fun or merely exhausting.
