@808love: i was just going to say, this was our best trip yet at 4! she was up for lots of the rides (and tall enough for them) and could hang for a long day with a short stroller nap!

but so i think if it wasn't a yearly, easier trip for us, i would say 4+

It completely depends on the kid. We took my oldest at 2 and had a great time. There's no way we would take our youngest at 2, just such different personalities lol. We're thinking he will be better to take at 4 or 5.

Another thing to consider, while they are pretty young, they are free to get in, which is great. But, because of their size you won't be able to do all the rides.

@CatchAFallingStar: I have a three year old (she just turned three) and an 19 month old. The three year old would love to go now, but I don't know about my little guy. I want it to be fun for both of them, and since we are going to have to save money for the trip, I want to make sure it is worth it for both of them.

I don't think there is any ideal or perfect age. LO has been to DL/DW at 14 months, 18 months, 3 and 4 and had a great time each time and got lots out of it each time. Go when it works for your family.

We brought our 3.5 yo DS and 1.5 yo DD to Disneyland and California Adventure twice this past fall. They know some Disney/Pixar characters, but I actually think my 1.5 yo enjoyed the rides more than my 3.5 yo because she isn't afraid of the dark like he is. Fantasyland is great for LOs because there are so many rides there that they can enjoy. DS really enjoyed CA though bc he loved Radiator Springs. Bug's Land in CA has a lot of toddler-friendly rides there too.

ETA: We have driven to Disneyland the morning of and also stayed the night before our visit. Feel free to message me if you have questions about either option!

I think it depends on if you are only going once or not.

If you only go once, I think I read that around 8 is a good time to go. By then the kids are usually tall enough to go on all the rides, will remember it, and are still at the age where they enjoy that Disney aspect.

I haven't taken DS to Disneyland but he's been to Disney World twice. At age 1 and 2. People thought I was nuts but DS loves Mickey Mouse and Disney movies and I promise you I don't regret both trips! He's reactions are something I will never forget even though he won't remember lol

In your opinion, what is the best age for a first trip to Disneyland? We live in Oregon, so we have to factor in the flight, hotel stay, etc.
