@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: gotcha, I thought you were asking about the walk through while waiting for the HP ride, not the Cinderella castle. The HP walk through isn't a castle, oops.

Been to both. World is way better. Walt Disney created Land first and said when he did World he was going to plan better and do it right. He did. Other parks nearby too.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: To be honest, I don't remember much of the castle. Again, not to detract from the thread and I hate to be such a downer but the whole thing was a bit of a disappointment cause it was smaller than I expected and most stores were exterior only. I'd love to go to the actual WB set in England one day.

I've only been to Disneyland but from the perspective of an international tourist, Disneyland is much more accessible and affordable (bith in terms of flights and time constraints)! DH and I spent almost a week in Anaheim and did two days at the Disney parks, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm and a day trip to the San Diego Zoo. DH also struggles a bit with crowds so the smaller size of Disneyland was also a plus for us.

With all that bring said I still have a dream to take my family to Disneyworld at some stage!!

I've been to both and I MUCH prefer Disneyland. I'm from CA though and have been going since I was little. My main reasons for liking it better though are; weather is better in California, the historical aspect of Disneyland is magical (I'm such a cheesy kid at heart lol), California Adventures is a blast and there's a lot more to do in Southern California if you're there for vacation...you can always do the beach, Sea World, San Diego Wild Animal Park, etc etc etc

I live in the South so I've been to Disney World multiple of times. My husband had a business trip out in LA so I tagged along, stayed over the weekend, and went to Disney Land. It's basically smaller and the same thing. I was def disappointed. We should have gone to California Adventure instead.

For quality, Disneyland.
For quantity, Disney World.

I've felt like the places where they overlap (the Magic Kingdom, basically - It's a Small World, Space Mountain, Mr Toad's Wild Ride) - Disneyland does it better. For a short trip or trip with kids who will focus time in that area anyway, I'd go with Land. But for a wider experience with more options, or a longer trip, it's gotta be the World.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: @Meow:

OMG the Harry potter ride made me SO sick, I couldn't do anything else for an hour and felt queasy for the whole day. I thought I would be fine since I love Soarin at Epcot and don't usually get motion sickness!

I did enjoy the walk through though, all the shops were neat and the wand show was pretty cool. I went with a Harry potter fanatic so it was fun to see it through her eyes. I prob wouldn't go back because it was very $$ admission and I'm more of a disney girl myself ;)

@owlmom: I need to remember to bring some on my trip. When I get sick, I also get grumpy. I don't know why I didn't think to take meds beforehand. Well, probably because the last trip was to Disneyland and it was the worse I've been. DH would go on rides without me and I would just kill time by shopping and eating.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Cool. Can't wait to try the butterbeer! Thanks for the tips.

@Meow: Oh, no. I'm glad you mentioned motion sickness. I'm pretty sensitive. That's so disappointing. But it's my own damn fault... well, in my genes (my mom has it pretty bad, too). I can't ride half the rides because of it. But, I'll definitely try it once and hope that it's not too bad. If it comes down to it, I might consider taking a dramamine, so I'm not a complete party pooper.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I agree it's pretty realistic/fun if you're into those kind of rides but I'd like to just warn those prone to motion sickness! I get motion sick pretty easily so the ride was torture for me. Also tried the butter beer and was disgusted but it's just one of those things you have to try for yourself as part of the experience. I sound like a real Debbie downer don't I?

@Mrs. Pen: Florida has tons of really beautiful natural springs everywhere if you're into that. Sightseeing, kayaking, swimming, etc. One of those less than an hour away from Orlando is Blue Springs. I've seen manatees mere feet away while I was there!

@locavore_mama: wait... then do you mean disneyland? Disneyland is California, disneyworld is Florida. The reason I lean more toward disneyland is because I would want to do other things, like a day at the beach, legoland etc.

I think I have only ever been to one part at disneyworld (blizzard beach) when I was 14, but that was only one day, we also went to universal studios. But if you go to Florida, there isn't much else to do unless you make the drive to the beach which is a couple hours away I think.

@bluestriped bee: I am so like your DH, it boggles my mind that this question is even being asked. Disney World is DISNEY WORLD.

Disneyland is 65 acres. Disney World is about 30,000 acres! As for the discussions about how you can spend a week at Disney...yeah, maybe not at Disneyland, but have you people ever been to Disney World?! There's Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, 3 water parks, mini golf, Downtown Disney which has tons of stores, restaurants, Disneyquest, Cirque du Soleil, etc. You can visit different hotels and watch animals on a Disney-created savannah, learn how to hula dance, go on carriage rides, check out the Boardwalk which has awesome entertainment, sit around a campfire and to make smores and hear stories, rent different kinds of water vehicles....I could go on and on and on forever. We always spend at least 5 days at Disney World and I've still never made it to the water parks and have only been to Disneyquest once!
