Love hot chocolate bars! Premaking it makes it a lot easier. We always have crushed up peppermint sticks, crushed up peppermint Andies, crushed up regular Andies. Sprinkles, marshmallows, whip cream, caramel chips, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, white chocolate chips, cinnamon sticks, and peppermint sticks.

Sometimes for a treat I mix nutella into hot chocolate - delicious! Or you could do little scoops of ice cream.

We just did one for a baby shower. We did water and let people mix their own, but the crockpot idea would be great.

Mix in - marshmallows, peppermint marshmallows (Target), choc chips, Andes mint choc chips, peanut butter chips, flavored coffee creamers, peppermint stick stirrers (soft peppermint sticks I found at Target), pirouette cookie stirrers, cinnamon sticks

Any of the liquors you would mix in coffee would be good - Godiva chocolate liquor, Bailey's, Kahlua, creme de menthe

Do you know what Pocky is? It's basically a cookie stick dipped in chocolate. I think that would be yummy as a "stir stick"! Or what about crushed peppermint? I'm not a fan of mint but I know a lot of people are! Or some shaved chocolate peels?

I would suggest sprinkles and chocolate or butterscotch chips to top the whipped cream!

I've seen a lot of crockpot hot chocolate recipes online, so that'd probably be easiest for making the hot chocolate.

I like adding coffee syrups (Torani brand) to hot chocolate. They have flavors like salted caramel, hazelnut, vanilla. If you have a World Market near you, they carry the most variety of flavor, but you can also find the more basic ones in the grocery store.

Definitely make batches ahead of time, or you’ll end up with powder EVERYWHERE.

Add-ins and ideas:

Have some Mexican hot chocolate available as well as “regular”.

Toppings: Peppermint sticks, flavored marshmallows (very easy to make, or you can buy online), cinnamon/nutmeg in shakers to shake on top. Real whipped cream.

Booze: vanilla extract (homemade is insanely better if you have time to make it, otherwise a good quality *real* not imitation works fine, and should be vodka based), peppermint schnapps, vanilla/flavored vodka, Bailey’s irish cream, frangelico.

Hi Mommies,
We're going to set up a hot chocolate bar for DD's first birthday. I have questions for anyone who has done one or who has been to a party with one.

is it better to have pre-made hot chocolate in a thermos/dispenser or to have hot water and hot chocolate packets?

if you made a huge batch of hot chocolate for a thermos, what's the best way to make it in such a huge quantity?

what add-in work best? All i'm coming up with are marshmallows and whipped cream.

What kind of alcohol is best for some adult hot chocolate?

thanks mommies!
