It was expensive but he needed the fats (he was failure to thrive). He is also allergic to 6+ other foods. I decided to transition him to hemp milk after he turned 1. Neither Ellie nor Lorelei ever drank milk, but we do eat a fair amount of dairy and so I didn't worry too much. Obviously there are lots of other ways to meet those nutritional needs without dairy. I would just try to make sure that you are including foods rich in calcium and vitamin D in his diet, and ask the pediatrician if you need any additional ideas. It was a pain in the butt when Ellie was in public school and wouldn't drink milk. LO is allergic to dairy and I'm allergic to some of the substitutes (almond, coconut). Is having milk so important that he should get it in any form or is it okay if he just likes water? </p>
