We have a cheap ikea mobile that LO LOVES--it's got bold colors with some black and white. It is literally the only thing other than eating boob and sleeping that will keep her from crying at the moment. :)

I remember hearing, not necessarily from a reputable source, that newborns like black and white best for the sharp contrast. My nephew had a colorful one that he loved for a few months.

I think black and white would be fine when they're teeny tiny, but colors would be better for when they get a little bigger.

We bought our cot today! Yay!! Next item on our list is the cot-top changer and the cot mobile.

I'm looking for a mobile, primarily, to distract the baby while she is on the cot top changer..... We have seen a white and grey mobile that will go perfectly with our colour theme (lilac and white) but we have also seen a cute pink and blue mobile that would look lovely as there are bits of pink and blue throughout the room.

The question is - which mobile will be more interesting to the baby?
