My sons' allergist told me if you have allergies it would make it worse. I only use it when my kids are sick and it has helped. It's pricey, but if you use a 20% off coupon from Bed Bath and Beyond it's reasonable. I'd rather buy a good one than a cheaper one and have to replace it. The Warm Mist ones are notorious for mold. cool mist ones are better. We have the Crane one and LOVE it.
