We have successfully raised two toddlers with no humidifier. It CAN be done :)

When they're sick we take them in the bathroom and get it all steamy!

We use one every night. It started as just using it when she's sick but I think it's just become part of her routine now. Plus she's new to daycare, so she's always sick, it seems.

It depends. If you have a child with asthmatic symptoms, a humidifier can aggravate them.

If you have dry air, it might be beneficial, but the same effect can be achieved with leaving an open container of water in the bedrooms.

We use them all winter long - every night! Its super dry here in the winter so its a must - otherwise the kids wake up with hard boogies :silly:

We use one nightly. Ohio winter has been horrible. Plus little one was in daycare and had a constant cold. It helped keep his airways moist. When we didn't use it he'd have horrible bloody noses. We use the crane drop. It doesn't have a filter. You are supposed to clean it every few days with vinegar and water. Not a huge deal.

We use one for us! Actually, I accidentally broke our last one, and I'm super sad about it. We're getting a new one for us and the LO, and I'm ready for it. It helps us a lot!

We use it when our LO is congested, it really helps with dry nighttime coughing. Out apartment is also very dry in the winter, so I have used it for me too.

We live in so cal and I actually had my parents get a humidifier when she was born because she was so congested. Then it went away and we never actually opened the thing until a couple weeks ago (at 13 months!). We won't use it often but when we did have it on, it helped her sleep a whole lot better!

I don't have a LO yet, so I can't speak to that, but I recently bought one at my doc's recommendation for constant pregnancy congestion. It has helped a lot with that. One tip- I bought the highest rated one on amazon. One of the reasons I bought it was because it didn't have a filter and people complained about others that the filters were expensive. What I didn't realize was that if you don't have a filter you have to rinse it out daily and wash it with vinegar once a week. I've only had mine a few weeks and I'm already tired of this routine!

Dumb question-- how does it help when LOs get sick? When they are congested? C has a runny, snotty nose, but she can breath through it. I wonder if it would help?

I've never used one before but a lot of registries look like they include a humidifier. Does baby need one? When would we use it? Some bees have raised concerns over mold too which does cause concern.

Thanks!

ETA which one would you recommend?
