We have one I registered for because I just wanted a nicer container to hold the wipes on the dresser. We don't plug it in though. Maybe in the winter we will.

we didnt use a warmer, but we do have an oxo wipe container. and we love it! we bought economy size boxes of wipes that only have a plastic film as the opening and rip easily, so we use it for that in our downstairs changing station :)

@ElbieKay: Its not the pee you gotta worry about, its the high velocity poop jets - I got showered in it yesterday morning and it actually hit the opposite wall too! Sometimes when we wipe her bottom it stimulates her to go! We put a nappy over her usually but sometimes I become complacent and that's when she explodes!!

@ElbieKay: haha I think you'd get more use out of a hazmat suit ;) We did not have any desire for a wipe warmer since LO was born in the summer in Texas! I liked that the wipes cooled her down!

@ElbieKay: I never used a wipes warmer. I didnt want to have to worry about carrying that around. I buy wipes in the big multipack box from costco and it comes with a new plastic dispenser box each time

@ElbieKay: I didn't register for one because everyone said I wouldn't need one. Our house gets a tad chilly and I had a December baby. Diaper changes were the only time my sweet newborn would cry hysterically. I bought one. $20 to keep my sweetie smiling was well worth it.

I guess I'm the minority but I loved our wipe warmer. We had a fall baby and I liked using the warmed wipes on him. I would pour a little water into the container and it kept the wipes moist. We used it for the first 6 months.

I'd say a wipe warmer isn't needed. We never got one.

As for what to do with a boy, just use a washcloth. Then if they do pee it doesn't go everywhere. Now I just hand him the washcloth to play with since he pulls it off anyway. Plus it had been a long time since he has peed without a diaper on.

Yeah, I know, the tent comment was a joke. I really don't know what I am going to do with a boy. My only sibling is a sister!!!

@char54: That's what is currently on my registry (which I am slowly refining).

@ElbieKay: we had all sorts of tricks to avoid the pee shower! Our son peed as soon as cold air hit his wee-wee... didn't matter if the wipe was cold or not. At first we would open the diaper (take off the tapes) and dangle a wet wipe to touch him. He'd start to pee and we'd close the diaper again to catch the pee (just put it back over his wee-wee), then once he was done we would go ahead and change him.

Pretty soon the wet wipe didn't work anymore and we got hit a couple times, so we started blowing on his wee-wee... and that worked!

Peepee teepees are useless unless your baby is the stillest, calmest thing ever! I used to try using an open diaper as a teepee and it would go flying at the first kick.

@ElbieKay: Def nope on the wipe warmer. Also, the teepees are cute but totally impractical. Just use an extra washcloth or burp rag to keep him covered :-)

I have this exact same question! At first I was totally leaning towards getting one, but now I think I might just get the OXO tot perfect pull dispenser (doesn't warm) and call it a day.

Thanks, this is reinforcing my suspicions.

But I didn't know that cold wipes might make them pee! Oh no! And I am having a boy! Maybe I should buy a hazmat suit for changings. Or at least register for a teepee, ha.

We got a wipe warmer as an off-registry, shower gift, but we don't use it on the regular. However, I remember the first wipe we warmed, and DD actually gave a little coo, in response. I think she likes it, but tough dice, little one!

No, wipe warmers can promote the growth of bacteria....plus if you have a baby who is used to warm wipes at home, when you go out diaper changes might cause a lot of fussing. Warming them between my hands for two seconds gets the job done!

When you buy a big pack of wipes it comes with a plastic wipe dispenser. You want to store them in some sort of dispenser so they don't dry out. But a warmer seemed silly to me. My LO never seems to be bothered by her wipes, and the temp doesn't make her pee, so I see no benefit to it.
