@JerricaBenton: @highwire: Sounds like I need to hit up BRU for a Halo sleep sack. I have noticed that the swaddleme blanket is getting too short for her. But the large is too big and wasn't tight enough for her and she was up numerous times that one night. We only used it cause I didn't realize all the other ones were in the laundry still.

We used the Halo sleep sack which worked great. We started with one arm out. Then we moved to both arms out. But we used the flaps to still keep it snug around her mid section so that she felt contained, even though her arms were free. We kept her like that for a long time. Once she grew out of the swaddle length wise, we just moved to putting her in a footed sleeper for night time and completely got rid of the swaddle blanket.

@Smurfette: It's Halo. I looked on the site and it looks like any of the swaddle sleep sacks can be used with arms in or out but the one I bought said that specifically on the package. I got it at BRU. It's a little awkward because there's a lot of fabric when you don't go around the arms but we just wrap it all around her and she seems to be more comfortable than when she was sleeping with just a sleep sack, no swaddle.

L was rolling so we tried to wean cold turkey. We definitely had a few bad nights but I think we were also going through a growth spurt/4 month sleep regression. In an effort to get some sleep I bought a Sleep Sack that had a convertible swaddle, arms in or out. She's been sleeping with that (it just wraps tight around her upper body but arms and legs are free) and she's been sleeping much better again. It could be coincidence but I do think she still likes to be swaddled at night. We never swaddled for naps.

We had to start one arm out when she started rolling a lot around 4 mo. I tried going cold turkey and that didn't go well. I'm hoping to get the other arm out soon so we can move to sleep sacks. She rolls onto her belly with one arm out but doesn't like it much.

I swaddle-weaned her once she learned to roll all the way onto her stomach. She was almost 6 months old.

So I shouldn't really worry about her rolling onto her stomach? She isn't doing it when just laying on the floor during the day.

Maybe we will try one hand out this weekend and see how that goes.

Our little one started moving all around the crib when he was two or three months old but we did not swaddle wean until he was around five and a half months. I felt comfortable waiting because even though he could roll onto his tummy, he almost never did. Plus he hated being on his stomach and always cried. He did end up rolling onto his tummy in his crib once while swaddled but it was not a problem because he immediately started screaming and we went and flipped him back over. Good luck!

we swaddle weaned pretty early, like 10 or so weeks...we used a sleep positioner for awhile (pretty much the same as rolled up towels on either side to prevent rolling)

LO was doing stuff like that for at least a month before we swaddle weaned. She moved all over the bed, and rolled to her side, but never on her tummy. We ended up weaning at 4 months because she was breaking out of everything, not because of moving around.

We didn't swaddle wean until 5 months, when LO would violently rock himself from side to side while swaddled. Maybe try doing one arm out?

we didn't swaddle wean until almost 5 months when he was consistently rolling from back to belly in his swaddle. and we went cold turkey(it was a rough couple of nights)

We swaddle weaned once he did things like that and rolled for the first time. We did it cold turkey and the adjustment period was a little rough for a few days but then back to normal. I was nervous to find him face down in the swaddle! I think it makes it easier for them to roll because their arms are out of the way. It probably depends on your comfort level, but that is what we did!

No advice on this one momma. Em was swaddle weaned at the beginning of three months but that's because she was breaking free of the swaddle. We didn't use swaddle blankets ( other than A&A) so I don't know how to help you. :/ Sorry

R is 14 weeks and still sleeps with a Swaddleme blanket. Day care started using it to help her nap through out the day. She doesn't go to sleep on her own. She has to be held.

I put her in the crib, laying right in the middle. She was still in that position when she woke up around 2 to nurse. I put her back in the middle asleep. I went to wake her up this morning to nurse before we had to leave for day care and she had done a complete 180 and her head was at the other end of the crib.

Over the weekend, I was watching her on the monitor after she woke up, DH was going to get her, and she rolled onto her side and then back on her back.

I am afraid she is going to roll onto her side and then roll onto her stomach and then not be able to move since she is swaddled.

I hate to not swaddle her cause I think she needs it still. Plus it helps her sleep so much better.

Any ideas?
