i think it really depends on the scanner person.

without baby, as long as i had it in a clear bag...I've been able to go with items in two different bags.

with baby, we flew several times and the first time i flew, the scanner refused to allow pouches (even though I showed it to him in advance) saying that I needed to throw it out. It was for my then 7 month old and she didn't have any food for the flight (it was a short flight--2 hours..but still). On our way home, they allowed it through no problem. Both times it was major airports. I think the TSA agents doesn't really know either.

Update!

We were allowed through with 1 bag each. In addition I was allowed to bring 5 pouches of purées and a 6 oz yogurt (I put them in a ziplock bag and showed the screener in advance). They gave me a bit of hassle about the yogurt but let me take it because I said it was baby yogurt and because we are flying all day.

The meds bag shouldn't be a problem, I 've brought way more than that on and not had a problem.

In fact on our last flight, I had:
cooler bag with 4 8 ounce boxes of milk (like juice boxes), at least 4 applesauce pouches, 4 cups of peanut butter to go, straw cup filled with water.

Then I had a meds bag containing a sealed bottle of toddler advil, benadryl gel for bug bites, hand sanitizer, neosporin, wound cleanser and i think a tube of cortisone cream.

I would pack it all in one bag and put it all in one tray going through rather than have it distributed among everyone in your group.

I think food is separate from liquids. I am already bringing a baggy of purées and I've never had issues with that. I'm just also wondering if I'll have issues with a 3rd baggy of liquids that contains her diaper cream, hand Sani and baby Tylenol.

For us it varied from airport to airport about how much they were sticklers. I've never had milk questioned, and have always brought way more than I needed just in case.

They were always happy that I had things organized in clear bags instead of all over the place- my advice is to pack your clear bags and put them in one bin, usually they are super nice if you try to be organized. I've never had them get upset over how many clear bags I had.

I have had some minor slow downs with yogurt, applesauce, and the fruit pouches depending on who scanned it. Some didn't care, others had me open in to be scanned. I did have one mention that my fruit puree pouch was 3.5 instead of 3 oz, but she let us go through with it, she said others may not. I figured worst case, they make us throw out the food, no biggie.

Do lap babies get their own liquids allowance when you travel?

We have 2 adults and a lap baby. Can I bring 3 quart bags of liquids or just 2?

The TSA website says that each passenger gets their own so I'm thinking we should be ok to bring 3 since the baby is still a passenger, just one without a seat.

http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/3-1-1-carry-ons

Anyone have experience?
