@winniebee: Lala started out really small (so we got plenty of premie comments and other disparaging remarks)... Then she chunked out starting at about 5 months and the fat comments started. It made me realize that mamas can't win!

@MegWag: people just like having something to say I guess. I mean you never hear "oh he's just the perfect size!"

I think I will start saying that from now on :)

@Coco Bee: @winniebee: Me too! Linus was just under 7 lbs at birth and is close to 11 lbs now at 13 weeks. He's 9th percentile for weight and 25th for height, so I think that makes him look even skinnier. I feel so defensive when people say "so small!!", but then the other day someone said he was big and I felt defensive over that too! Silly momma. I guess I just want everyone to think he's as perfect as I do ;)

@Mrs. Jacks: lol clever :) I always have a hard time saying something back. I usually just enthusiastically say he is a healthy boy.

@Coco Bee: ugh me too I get the "so tiny" comments!

DS was only 5 lb 5 oz when he was born (and lost 10% of his weight in the hospital) and at 17 days old probably is now 6 lbs. We get lots of comments about how tiny he is or asking if he was a preemie (he wasn't). I hate the preemie comments so much and can't wait til he is a big chunky baby!

I heard A LOT of comments about Lala, and by 8 months, I was done. I refused to take it on any more and cut people off with, "She's a beautiful healthy baby". To those who would persist I would say, "sounds like you have some issues with weight." Between the two comments they always shut up.

Our pediatrician said that babies loose a lot of that "chunk" when they start crawling, so don't even listen to what everyone's saying.

I was a Michelin baby... meaning I had rolls on my rolls, but I turned out just fine ;-)

People tell me she's "healthy" or "well fed." Which means chunky. She's always been in the 95th percentile for weight, so she's a big girl. I don't care though, I love her chubs!

Yes! Our little guy was born at 6lbs 9oz, doubled his birthweight at 2.5 months and is probably 15-16lbs at 14 weeks. He has these deliciously round cheeks and multiple chins, as well as several rolls in each of his limbs! Most say he looks well-fed and are shocked to hear he is only 3 months.

I get comments about him being too small! He is 3 months old and 12 lbs, but he's perfectly healthy and my pediatrician said he's got his rolls in all the right places! I just ignore the naysayers.

I think chunky babies are adorable and HEALTHY. Not fat. I really don't think there's such a thing as an overweight breastfed baby, there really isn't. If someone comments on my LO I just say, he is a healthy, thriving little boy and it usually shuts anyone up saying something negative. I actually get the comments more from complete strangers than people i know.

I ebf too and my LO is a chunkster. His thighs are thick and his double chin covers his neck. People comment on how "healthy" he looks. It doesn't bother me too much. It's just baby fat right?

My LO weighed 14.75 lbs at her last check up when she was 3.5 months old. She is now a little over 5 months and probably a few pounds heavier. Everyone that meets her tells me that she is cute BUT kinda big, chunky, gigantic, thick, fat, fat, fat! I get a lot of questions about what I feed her (breastmilk...straight from the source and pumped) and comments about how their babies were never this big at the same age. I know babies can be chubby and my pediatrician wasn't worried but I'm starting to get a complex for my LO!

Do you hear a lot of comments about your baby's weight? Does it bother you?
