Yes, all the time, but she has no hair! It mostly doesn't bother me, but I do sometimes wonder why "he" is the default pronoun that a lot of people use for her!

Someone the other day just asked if LO is a boy or girl - and he's 2.5! I thought it was pretty obvious by now... it irks me a little but eh what can you do.

No, it doesn't bother me. This is my favourite convo with one of my grandmother's friends:

Old lady: what a handsome fella! What's his name?
Me: thank you! Her name is Charlotte
Old lady: Well isn't he the cutest. How old is he?
Me: She's 9 months
Old lady: He's growing so fast! Is he eating well?

Etc etc LOL

@Night Cheese: It really bothers me too that people assume gender based on clothing colour. But more than that, that there is so much pink/purple/frilly clothing out there for girls. Don't get me wrong, I like pink - on occasion! - and have some pink in my closet. But my entire closet doesn't consist of one or two colours. When I was a baby, my mom dressed me in many colours, including blue and red and green. I got mistaken for a boy, but had no hair at all for a long time, and it bothered my mom. I plan to dress my LO in all colours, too. I know he/she will be too little to know the difference, but when they're older I want them to know that what colour they wear or how they dress doesn't define them.

Doesn't happen anymore, but it did when she was a baby w/shorter hair. The only time it bothered me is when she was CLEARLY dressed like a girl, wearing pink/flowers/cupcakes/etc. Because seriously, why would you even think that was a boy and if in doubt, why not just say "hey, cute kid!"

It's happened 2-3 times. Every time she's been wearing a dress with a headband or bow. She looks pretty girly in general haha. It's been old people each time haha. It doesn't bother me, I think it's kinda funny especially considering how she was dressed.

We've only gotten the wrong gender once, by a salesgirl that kept bringing me robot and dinosaur prints even after I asked for girl pajamas while holding my long hair, pigtailed daughter.

Yes, DS is 16 weeks and has some pink outfits that really confuse people. Like, some act as if we're abusive or something for putting a boy in pink. Babies look gender neutral, I get that. But the stereotypes and assumptions bother me, like you said.

Eta: not that it matters really, but we don't put him in dresses or ruffles or bows, we just use the pink onesies that came in multipacks.

Doesn't bother me, I reply with "yes, she is". And then they get all embarrased as if they've made the biggest faux pas in the world. It's kinda funny, actually.

It happens a fair bit. The most annoying one was when we were on vacation and my friend was holding H. The cashier said that her little boy was cute, and I said, actually, she's a girl. The woman looked at me and asked why she was wearing blue. Uh, because her daddy bought this shirt and was bursting with pride that she fit in it and liked it? Whatevs. She has a lot of blue clothes.

Yes, he gets mistaken for a girl quite often, especially when he's due for a haircut. I posted this on here before, but there was a woman at a party that we were at mistake him for a girl. When my husband politely corrected her, she told him that DS shouldn't be wearing yellow if he's a boy. Umm...ok crazy lady!

It doesn't bother me. He has super curly hair, especially when it's long, so I know that people commonly associate that with being a girl!

All the time. Once DS was wearing all blue and was confused for a girl. My DD (8 weeks) has tons of hair and always has a headband or clip in -- and she was confused as a boy just the other day! I think people don't look that closely and say the first thing that comes to mind.

I'm not bothered by it.
