I've been given several quilts by my grandmothers that I will admit I don't like. They are very traditional in style, made with old scrap fabrics in colors I don't like (like one in pea green and brown).</p> <p>I have very little closet space, so I prefer not to keep blankets of any kind that I know I won't display or use.</p> <p>I have seen some quilts made with more modern fabrics and patterns that are beautiful in a boho way. We got a bunch of knitted blankets though, and I was eh about them. I know they also take a lot of time to make. One is much too small, and the larger one is super duper heavy. Like C won't be able to use it till he's much older. And since the knitted ones have "holes", when he sits on it, he likes to stick his fingers and pull on them. I'm afraid it'll get damaged. Our good friend made LO a beautiful quilt that was perfect for floor play. My in-laws bought LO a fun colorful quilt from Hawaii that has the alphabet with a Hawaiian word theme (L has a lei and S has a surfe, etcr). And we have a quilt for her crib bedding that she started using when we converted it to a toddler bed. My BFF is an AMAZING quilter, and I can't wait to see the things that she'll make for a future LO. Her wedding present for us is a gorgeous, colorful quilt for our queen-sized bed. I'm anxiously awaiting the day it's finished. Most of it is only noticeable on really close inspection, but I know as a buyer it would bother me. The maker actually met with me before hand to discuss my taste and colours I'd like, and then sent me a couple photos of what she kind of planned to copy, and made the whole thing machine washable/dryable, and it's a fantastic size. We use it all the time for playing on the floor together. It's a dandelion on the front and pink/grey/white chevron on the back.
