We used the same tub as @Mrsbells: posted & DD loved it! We just put it in the tub & washed her in there. The kitchen sink isn't always sanitary & I just find it easier to do it in the bathroom (less water/mess on my floors, easier transition to regular tub...)

We always use the laundry tub for LO's baths and it works perfectly! We don't use the tub for anything else (buckets for soaking stained clothes) and it's a nice, new laundry tub so it's not gross like some can be. We have a bath sling that she lays on so she's not actually on the stainless steel and it keeps her head above water, making it a thousand times easier to bathe her. The only issue is that she's now too tall for it but DH has made a cushiony pillow of sorts so she can't bump her head against the sink and other than that, she loves it! I sort of dread the day we have to stop using it as I hate the though of bending over a baby bathtub.

I would have trouble washing Sawyer in the sink, when he sits upright he automatically stands up, which would be dangerous in the sink. He is fine when he is laying on the bath sling, but as soon as you sit him up those legs straighten (I tried a spa bath at a friends, and he wouldn't settle into it at all). We didn't buy our tub though, it was a hand-me down.

we were washed in the sink too!

i got the Puj tub for when the baby is small and needs to lay back in something. I figure we'll use that until he gets too big, then just do the sink, and when he's sitting up solidly, we'll do the bath.

We are using the Bloomingbath in our sink. I'm a total clean freak and disinfect our sink everyday. Even if I didn't the Bloomingbath prevents baby from actually touching the sink.

I like having the tub, I think it makes it easier. But we do have two bathrooms, and LO has her own so it's easy for us to keep her tub in the big tub.

Absolutely. Once Baby X grew out of the PUJ tub, we moved him to the kitchen sink. And after he got too grabby with the faucet handles, we moved him to the big bathtub, or we take showers with him.

I plan on bathing the baby in the kitchen sink. I got a blooming bath for this reason. Our kithcen sink also has the sprinkle spout that comes out and we can use it as a little shower head. I think it will work out .
http://www.bloomingbath.com/blooming-bath-baby-products.html
We have a smaller house so a baby bath, to me, would just not work. We dont have an empty part of the counter big enough for one in the kitchen or bathroom and our bath tub has glass doors so only half of the tub is accessable at a time.

I do, because I really don't have another option at this point. I scrub the sink and then put a towel in it so she isn't sitting on the stainless steel (I used to use the blooming tub when she was smaller). I clean it again once she is finished.
At 1, she is really too big for a baby tub now, and our bathroom is long and very narrow, not giving any room to kneel next to it.

Yes, I have totally given my children baths in the sink. Usually in the bathroom sink, though, not the kitchen sink. We have a baby bathtub, but I ditched it with DD when she was about 2 months old, and just got in the big tub with her every night, instead. We used it longer with DS (up until 4-ish months), but now I just get in the big tub with him at night. Once he's a steady sitter, I'll just put the kids into the tub together every night.

I liked the baby bathtub for the newborn stage, though. They're such little, soft blobs at that point, I felt like the sling in the baby bathtub was much more comfortable for them than the sink/big tub.

For a while we washed my nephew in the kitchen sink. It was during the transition period when he could sit up fairly well, but was having trouble sitting in the infant tub (the one my parents had was slanted and his little tooshee would slide around). We just quickly washed the sink out before and after. Once he started moving, we moved him into the tub with a slip mat.

DH and I are really tall, so I assume we will be washing more in the kitchen sink because its easier on us than bending over the bathtub.

My sister in law does this and cleans it first , but its always seemed weird to me and I couldnt do it. Our sink isnt even deep enough for that and even if it was, I just think of all the yucky things that go through our sink, could never put my child in there

We use the fisher price whale of a tub and we just put in our bath tub and I lean over and bathe her.

@photojane: the lady i nanny for is really, really on top of organic/natural/clean etc. she washed her first in the sink. she just really cleaned it before hand, put a hand towel in the bottom, and then cleaned it again after. her baby actually never once pooped in the tub, but i'm sure she peed! her second baby she's been using the same blue plastic tub from target a PP posted. but I figured I'd give you at least one positive-sink story, lol

@photojane: we didn't buy a tub either. didn't see the point. But I do wish we had one now... I've bee bathing and showering with my LO since he was born, which isn't a bad thing. But sometimes I just wanted a shower by myself, or I wanted to be able to do bathtime as his routine and there was no way to do that.

As he got a little older, I put a towel in the tub for him to lay on, and that's what he does now, but I'm anxious for him to be able to sit up so I can bathe him properly.

I actually decided I was going to purchase a used baby tub off of CL but couldn't find one.

ps I wouldn't bath baby in our sink either - mostly because it ALWAYS has dishes in it.

hm.. thanks for the input ladies! my mom always put a towel in the sink so our butts weren't on the metal or the drain. we have a huge stainless steal sink, so i know baby will fit for a while, but i didn't really think about the constant cleaning! ha. i might just try to find something small that folds or stores easily for newborn sink/tub baths until he/she is sitting up. we definitely don't have room for one of those enormous blue tubs (http://www.target.com/p/the-first-years-sure-comfort-newborn-to-toddler-tub/-/A-623913).

we did! we were gifted two infant baths...

I hated this one.

and the regular blue one. Which was good when she was little, but she grew out of it fast and it took up a lot of space in our tiny house.
http://www.target.com/p/the-first-years-sure-comfort-newborn-to-toddler-tub/-/A-623913

The sink was good for us from the time she was too big for the blue tub and too little for the regular bath tub.

@photojane: I did for the first month with a sling in there. I think he was already getting a little big for that though, when someone gifted us the tub I had registered for, which we have been using ever since. We have a small space too and this doesn't take up a big footprint, plus it can double as a wastebasket down the road and can be a good bucket down the road when you need one too. Plus, my baby LOVES it: http://spababytubs.com/store/

It would take way to long to sanitize my kitchen sink before LO can sit in it. Our bathroom sinks are too small and too cold for her, plus she squirms a lot and the faucets are too low.

We use the tub that we can put over the kitchen sink. I didn't feel right about washing her in just the sink, no matter if I cleaned it a million times. Plus, the infant tub is definitely more comfortable than sitting on the plug in the sink :-)

I didn't want to get it because I thought it would be a waste to use it for only a few months, but we're going on 7.5 months and we're still using it every day (So that's over 200 times we've used it).

We have bathed our LO in a bathroom sink when/if we're not at home and it's just not as easy as the baby tub. We bring our baby tub when we travel now!

My mom thought I was ridiculous to get a baby tub since she always washed us in the sink but the idea of it grosses me out. I don't want my naked baby where raw meat has been and I don't want my food where my baby's poopy bum has been. But we have two full bathrooms so it's easy enough for us to keep all the baby's stuff in the second bathroom.

That is what everyone told me but then you have to make sure your kitchen sink is always clean? We always have dishes in ours until we run the dishwasher after dinner. It just didn't make any sense to me. Our bathroom sink is not big enough so we bought a plastic tub.
