It worked great and I wasn't worried about the inhalation issue by doing it with my hand. I usually pat the area dry with a dry cloth and then put a little powder in my hand, away from the baby, and then just pat her bum and thighs a bit with it to keep the area dry. We were using wet paper towels instead of baby wipes so his raw skin wouldn't be irritated, but if his skin was at all damp before we applied the Desitin it made things a million times worse, so the baby powder was helpful with making sure he was totally dry. </p>
