I always did but that was mainly because of the fact that I had a tiny little packet full of pills that constituted my prenatals. I had to break up taking them, some in the morning, some at lunch. Then of course there were those god awful iron pills. The pills weren't so bad to take but the orange juice that I had to guzzle down with it? Ick. I hate orange juice.

During the first tri, the prenatals caused nausea for me no matter when I took them and if it was with food or not. I could stomach the gummy kind occasionally, but no regular pills. Once the morning sickness passed I was fine with them.

It's the iron in the prenatal that causes nausea. I had really bad morning sickness so I switched to a parental gummy that didn't contain any iron. When the morning sickness went away (close to second trimester), I switched back to prenatal vitamin w iron. You should talk to your doctor before you make any changes. Hope you feel better :-)

The gummies make me want to ralph too! Something about the taste and they are like overly chewy and sweet.

I take Rainbow Light. They're supposed to be gentle on the stomach but they still make me feel ill, with or without food. I take them right before I go to sleep so that I don't really feel it.

Vitamins with no food make me nauseous, pregnant or not. I think prescription prenatals made me more nauseous than OTC ones, too.

I think it was the iron that made me sick. I had to eat them with food or at night time. I switched brands to a plant based one that is a little easier on the stomach.

Oh yeah! You can try breaking them and taking half and then half later in the day. Or some people have better luck with the gummy kind. Or take them before bed & sleep through the worst of the nausea.

Yup, actual any multi vitamin makes me a little nauseous on an empty stomach. I started out with the Rainbow Light petite (3 small instead of one giant) since I was afraid of the nausea. It absorbs better when you take it with food anyway!

They definitely can! My friend's doctor told her to just take Flintstone vitamins (!) because they were better than nothing and her prenatals were really making her sick. I would try switching brands first, personally. I know in general, some brands of multivitamins are easier on the stomach than others.

ETA: I always took mine after my biggest meal of the day and that worked for me!

I've been having almost daily nausea lately! Today is really bad and it finally dawned on me that haven't eaten and it started after I took the prenatal today. And yep - bottle says take with food.

Do you get nausea when you don't eat with your prenatal vitamin?
