He doesn't really like them to hold him, and will only tolerate it if they really work hard to distract him. With FIL, Xander started whimpering whenever FIL even got CLOSE to him - he didn't even get a chance to hold him! But my FIL just thought it was funny, haha. And Xander was fine with my mom until just recently and she wasn't offended! She said stranger anxiety was normal at this age, so she was understanding! I think she was bummed she couldn't really hold him, but didn't take offense! She wiggles so she can see around that person, and then smiles at someone else. She does it whether it's me holding her, or a complete stranger (to her).
