Agree with turtledoves! And make sure your not eating artificial sweeteners either.

I gave up sugar for all of summer 2012, and it was really hard initially but after a month it got easier. I also gave up grains that summer. I should really do that again. I hate how addicted to sugar I feel.

I too have drastically cut my sugar intake. I literally was on a sugar rollercoaster all day, and at first, when I went cold turkey, it was awful, but after about a month, I don't have cravings as strong as I used to and things that never tasted sweet are like little bits of candy. I can barely eat apples and grapes without feeling like I'm eating a spoonful of sugar.

I agree with PP. The more sugar I eat, the more I want to eat it! I try to never have sweet things for breakfast or else I just want sweets all day!

@Purpledaisy: YES. ...& no. I'll explain:

In order for me to cut sugar (which I have for the last 2 months), I had to go all or nothing.
A little bit if sugar makes your body want more. Sugar leads to ...more sugar.
I had to cut it all out and then my cravings totally went away. I seriously don't crave sweets anymore.
I did the same with grains. I literally only eat grains when I'm not home and have no other options....& then, I crave them when I get home because I had them earlier that day. I have to stop cheating because a "cheat" leads to days of cravings.

Pretty soon, chocolate will be too sweet for you. I got to the point where a blueberry hits the spot. This is coming from a former muffin, candy bar and Starburst addict :)

Yes, sugar cravings go away for the most part. I agree with Blackbird - the easiest way to eliminate the cravings is to eliminate sugar from your diet. It's hard for a few weeks but it gets easier.

Yeah it goes mostly away for me. But I have to go pretty cold turkey. Sugar is a slippery slope. I have a little, I want more, etc

For me it's baked goods.

I have a MAJOR sweet tooth and decided to cut my sugar intake down drastically a little over three weeks ago. I've been trying to stay under 24 grams a day not including sugar from fruit. But I am still having such bad cravings!! Has anyone else cut down on sugar and had major cravings?? Did they ever go away??

Although I am enjoying the 8 pounds I've lost since cutting back :wink:
