My friend and I went to get pedicures when she visited a while back, and went to an asian salon where the ladies don't speak english very well. Neither of us had had one in a very very long time and the ladies who did our pedicures were talking to eachother (in their language) and laughing, pointing at our feet, and showing eachother our foot skin gratings. I would have been mortified if my friend didnt have the same thing -- we just laughed. I just said--sure! And she went to town with some tweezers.</p> <p>And then my FAVORITE story is that when one of my husband's south asian friends started dating a chinese woman (I mean, grew up in china---not chinese-american), and when she met one of our other friend's wives, she grabbed the wife's hand and exclaimed, "your arms are so plump and fat! how nice!". I'm liking them more as I get older, but I always find them so awkward. At any rate, I clearly don't get them frequently or practice great foot-care at home -- especially with a huge belly in the way. The lady used one of those cheese-grater things to slough off the dead skin, and when was done, she was like, "You want to see all the skin?" and flashed me the grater FULL of dead skin. I was so mortified! </p> <p>Last time I got one done, I had a similar experience! The lady was like, "SO MUCH SKIN." </p> <p>DUDE. I KNOW. THAT'S WHY I'M HERE.</p> <p>Are you ever embarrassed by comments salon workers make about your upkeep? I also had one lady one time ask me -- about 5 times -- if I was SUUUUURE I didn't want to get my eyebrows waxed after my manicure. Um, are you trying to tell me something? </p>
