I agree it looks like molluscum. But a doctor can tell you for sure. I got that in college on one arm/elbow and have no clue where I got it (doctor suggested maybe sweaty gym equipment and I was going through a workout phase at the time...so gross). I thought it was super unsightly, so my doctor burned it off so it wouldn't spread. Wasn't too painful, took one application then they kind of turned white and fell off.

@blackbird: Google pictures always make everything look worse than it is!! :silly: But yeah, I agree on keeping them covered which should be easy given where they are...

@blackbird: his cousin had it and they swam together this summer and used the same towel. Her pedi said that it takes up to six months to show up after contact. His cousin has it all over her little body but he only got it in a few spots. Sadly his cousins family doesn't care for her properly so the spread was avoidable but never treated.

@blackbird: if it is that I'd see your doctor. It needs to be covered because it is contagious. My BFF's son had it and they were very concerned with it spreading to her daughter and kids at daycare. I believe she kept it covered with band aids and dried them up with peroxide or something similar.

@SproutBee: @Andrea: the photos for that look so bad compared to her leg! I didn't see any actual pus, so warts of some kind make sense....

I agree that it looks like molloscum so I would have the doctor take a look. But as @SproutBee said, it is benign and treatment may not be necessary.

From the pics, looks like molluscum contagiosum. It's a virus, except similar to the virus that causes warts, can take 6 months or more for your body to clear it. It usually doesn't call for treatment since it's a benign condition. There are some treatments, but the treatments themselves are either painful or cause blistering, so it's not necessary.

@Dandelion: she's had impetigo and it's definitely not that!! Ugh that was a mess to deal with. I'll probably take her in if it doesn't get better in about a week. I'm hesitant since it's not causing her any issues-and she's actially NOT sick and I know the ped's office is full of germs right now. She used to have skin tags back there, but I noticed those are gone, now.

BFF's kids had something that looked just like that and it was viral, they had to go to a derm to take care of it. maybe not the same thing, but i'd have it looked at.

You might want to get it looked at. Viral rashes are usually everywhere and D once had a pimple that turned out to be impetigo. But, it could also be excema. It's very dry this time of year.

@mrbee: it does look a little like that, except not red (it probably is in the photo because I was touching it). We have some cream from her last outbreak we can try and I'll check out your tips! We haven't seen it on her since she was born but the back of the knees is a total hot spot for that stuff!

@blackbird: I was gonna recommend something but then Dr. Google said that that particular treatment isn't safe for kids! Then I remembered that once upon a time, Bee wrote up what worked for us when Charlie had eczema... the big surprise for me was that diet changes were really helpful:

http://www.hellobee.com/2012/01/11/preventing-and-treating-eczema/

ps This could totally not be eczema, so I defer to doctors/nurses! It does look familiar though and when I Google "toddler eczema back of knees mild" and check out the images, it looked pretty similar? You'd have a better sense for how close it matches though!

@blackbird: Could that be eczema? Sometimes that flares up in the winter! While you're waiting to hear back from the doctor/nurse, you could maybe try treating it with various creams... see if it clears up!

We're mystefied. E has these pimply things on the back of her legs. Do toddlers even get pimples here? I'm wondering if it's yet another viral rash (aka no treatment). She seems unphased by it
