@Dahlia: DD would definitely go through phases of sleeping a lot more than usual or being a lot hungrier than usual.

@avivoca: Interesting you mention night terrors, I think DD had her first one the night before last. I had never heard of them connected to growth spurts, but there you go!

@My Only Sunshine: Same with my daughter. She's eating a ton, throwing tantrums all over the place, and having night terrors, which usually coincides with a growth spurt for her.

I think so, every now and then DS inhales all his food and asks for seconds and thirds. I don't notice any obvious growth until later, when I realize he's started reaching something he was too short for earlier.

@Dahlia: We just went through one with our 3 year old. Eating a ton. Like putting away more than my husband, when usually she eats something like half a string cheese and four apple slices for lunch. And a behavior regression - crying, tantrums, etc. I'm not positive that was connected but it seemed to ease up around the time she went back to eating normally and I had to buy her new pants.

Yep. He starts eating all his foot without complaining. He also tends to have a potty training regression. And then all of a sudden all his pants are too short.

My son hasn't really had a big growth spurt since he turned 1 (he's almost 6). His growth has became more steady and gradual. I've noticed smaller growth spurts in the summer, where he'll grow an inch or two, but nothing crazy like when he was an infant. His feet grow very slowly. He's still wearing the same shoe size as a year ago.

My daughter just turned 3 and her growth has been steady. She's grown relatively more inches between 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 than my son did, but again, it seems gradual with no noticeable spurts. Her feet grow much faster than her brother's though. She's gone up 3 sizes in the last year.

@jhd: Wow! That's quite the spurt.
@Tanjowen: Holy mackerel! I kind of wish DD's feet would grow...they're so tiny it's hard to find shoes that fit.
@newlypregnantlady: Yeah, that's what we're looking at here. It seems like ever 10 minutes she's hungry again, and she's cranky!

My daughter wants to eat constantly. Today she asked for a meal basically every hour. I can't even believe how much she's packing away these days! I'm kind of hoping her feet grow because her winter boots are a little too big but the next size down is too small.

We just went through one. It's usually noticeable because he sleeps more (I have to wake him up from naps!) and eats all the time. This past one, he went from a size 6 to a size 9 shoe. In 1 week

My LO grew 3 inches between his 2 year and 2.5 year well visits. The only reason I really noticed he had grown was that his shorts were shorter. Haha.
