We signed it. They don't post photos frequently to Facebook and the ones on their website are in a parent section that only enrolled families can log into. It doesn't bother me.

Occassionally we get a Happy Gram email which is sent just to us (me and DH) with a photo from the day.

I signed one for our daycare but when we went to visit the Easter bunny for the first time when he was 4 months, I was asked if they could use his picture for training purposes as well as other media things. I have to said, it is an amazing picture but I said a big fat no to that one.

@T.H.O.U.: that totally reminded me, I follow a pseudo-celebrity on Instagram (Emily Maynard from The Bachelor/Bachelorette) and she has TONS of followers. She had posted a picture with her daughter, and had the location tagger on and it showed the school's name and address...!! There were like 1,000 comments immediately, warning Emily to take down the picture because now everyone would know where her daughter's school was. Yikes!!!

@ShootingStar: This is kinda our thing. I don't mind posting because I can control it, but for them to post in their Facebook page, that anyone can see and know where she goes to school kinda freaks me out.

Yes, Wagon Jr. has been featured in marketing materials for Tea Collection, Uppa Baby, and a picture was run in our local paper for our daycare (the director retired after 20 years) and it was actually a picture that Wagon Sr. had taken and sent to the daycare. We don't mind our kids' pictures being used as long as we've been asked permission (we signed releases for the two companies and gave permission to the daycare and the paper), and the organization won't resell the picture.

We've never gotten any kind of compensation for the pictures... but we did receive a friends and family discount at Uppa Baby :)

I think our daycare had a form for this and said something about photos being ok to use in marketing materials and we decided not to agree to it. DH and I post pics on Facebook and I post on Instagram, so I'm ok with his photo being online. But being used for marketing didn't sit well with us.

@bookwormmama: that's weird. Get off your phone and watch my child!
On the same vein I find it weird parents get texted pictures of their kids at daycare. My daycare has a strict no phone policy in the rooms and I'm glad of it.

@MamaMoose: Maybe this is a stupid question, but why would a daycare need an Instagram account? I guess I can understand a Facebook account, but I don't really understand having an Instagram account unless it were private and only parents could follow.

I don't think I would be comfortable with caregivers posting pictures of my kid. A family friend's nanny always posts pics of the kids on her personal Facebook and tags the parents...I find that a little strange as a nanny and a parent.

Our daycare doesn't have any social media accounts. They send out a daily email with pictures and info about the activities of the day, which goes to all the parents in our room (only). I'm totally fine with that. We didn't have to sign a release to use LO's pictures in their promotional materials, it was built into our contract - so we would have had to amend the contract and fight about that and it wasn't something IMO worth fighting over.

I dont think its a big deal. Its a big pain when parents dont sign from a management perspective (though i fully support a parents right to decline) so unless i had a really good reason (custody, legal stuff etc.) i would sign.

Usually it doesn't bother me. But at my daughters preschool last year they just started up facebook so we had a separate form to sign then and I didn't sign. I wasn't sure how often they were going to post and I didn't like that it was a public page that they seemed to be updating while an activity was going on.

My daycare doesn't post pictures anywhere, but at the public school that I work in, it's such a PITA if a kid doesn't have their photo release signed. Then they don't get to be in the yearbook, can't be in any club or award photos (sports teams, chess club, student of the month, etc), don't get to be in the end-of-the-year slideshow. The kiddos tend to get upset about not seeing themselves anywhere--it's as if they didn't exist at our school. sad face.

Our school doesn't do FB, twitter, IG, or anything else so I think the parents are probably a little overly concerned. Luckily, it's only 1-2 students a year.

Our day care doesn't have a facebook page, but we declined the use of LO's photos for marketing materials (brochures, website, etc.), but allowed for internal photos on the walls in the classroom. If they had a facebook page, I wouldn't have allowed her photos up there.

Our daycare does this and we allowed it. They post their pictures on Facebook, but it's always just a bunch of kids and they aren't labeled, so I guess I don't feel OVERLY concerned about it. Maybe I'm naive though...

I don't know where to the put this but safety maybe sounds right.

A lot of places have a photo release for your child. Daycare, dance class, etc.

Do you sign and allow it? With the craziness of Facebook, I have not allowed it so far (although I still post plenty of pictures).
