I comfort nurse all the time. My toddler boy loves his mommy's boobies. It's my secret weapon for a happy baby on long-haul flights, and my quick test of the seriousness of an injury - if a little Mommy's milk and comfort nursing can calm the cries in under 30 seconds, it's not serious. I've almost never put limits on nursing and he is naturally weaning on his own. He was a high needs, high touch baby but now as a toddler, he's a pretty busy guy who has other things to do and explore and has gradually lessened his interest in nursing.

Yea I do. We try not to feed more frequently than every two hours but sometimes she gets fussy after an hour and a half and we go ahead and nurse. Now that shes almost 3 months she's stretching out her feedings

For sure - when LO is freaking out, just being on me and sucking for a little bit calms her right down. LO is 3 months old now and when all methods of comforting has been exhausted (rocking, swaying, shushing, etc) then I put her on the boob. All is well.

Sometimes we try other things to comfort first but I'm not against comfort nursing. As shes gotten older (5 months now) its needed less on its own..

I comfort nurse Wombat. It helped when she was younger and, now that I'm back at work, I love that I can do that, but no one else can.

I'm with @chopsuey119. I allowed my son to comfort nurse as needed but by 7 months or so, no comfort nursing was wanted and he fusses and struggles if I try to get him to comfort nurse when he doesn't feel well.

I comfort nursed my DD. When she was younger (she's 7 months old now) she would nurse all the time. It was exhausting.
Now that she's older, she'll only nurse when she's hungry. When I try to make her nurse, she gets mad and refuses to latch on :P
I wouldn't worry about it becoming expected.

We're dealing with DD comfort nursing a lot. on the one hand if it calms her down and puts her to sleep I'm all for it, but on. the other hand I don't want it to become expected. do you allow comfort nursing?
