I mostly just repeat with the correct grammar or pronunciation. But occasionally lately he'll say things like, "I no like that." And I'll ask, "Can you say 'I don't like that?'" I did it a lot too when he used to say "I help" when he meant that he needed help, not that he wanted to help. So I would encourage him to say "help me" since repeating it back in that situation didn't seem like it would help or make sense.

@yin: haha! Up until a few months ago DD1 had no concept of being "Chinese". If we asked if she was Chinese she would respond "no, I'm <her name>!". Now when we ask her she responds "no, I'm half Chinese!" 😂

I repeat it back correctly but don't ask him to correct himself.

Yes, I correct with grammar and pronunciation. Then there are cute things that I let slide. When asked where is he from, he will respond, "I'm from Delaware. I'm English." We're Asian so people expect him to say that he is Chinese/Vietnamese.

Yes, I correct and then we do a repeating exercise after it. It helps with his language development.

I will repeat back with correct grammar. Sometimes she will repeat it back correctly on her own. Sometimes I'll ask her to repeat it back to me, like if she's learning a new word.

Now that he's 4, yes. Its mainly pronunciation I correct, because he's pretty good about grammar, but he's lazy with pronunciation. My husband does it, as well.

Now that DD1 is 4 I am starting to correct her on using the correct pronouns and when talking about time. Like she will use her for a boy, or say yesterday when talking about something that happened earlier in the day.

If your LO says something incorrectly, do you correct them?

Both of my girls are young, 2 and 3 so I don't always correct them. I will occasionally but for the most part I don't.
