LO's pediatrician let us know that there will be some viruses that he gets that may have his body give the same reaction as if he was exposed to the protein he is allergic to. Our LO is allergic to eggs (more specifically, egg whites), and he's had viruses before that bring out the hive reaction. We've always given him Benadryl if we see hives because I don't want it to progress into a breathing issue.

If I think it's an allergic reaction to something or it's bothering him, I'd give Benadryl. If it's not bothering him and doesn't seem to be getting worse, I wouldn't.

LO has broken out in hives a few times after having nuts. He has tested positive for all nuts except almonds.

The thing is, he has gotten hives randomly before as well. He has a few around his face right now but didn't eat any nuts or anything new. I'm wondering if it is just related to the cold he has? Or sensitive skin? Or if be touched something at the grocery store and is reacting to it? I'm just debating if I should give him some Benadryl before his nap.
