This year we went out a full month ahead (anniversary is today; went out mid-September). We try to do something special - a nice dinner, a concert, whatever - and if the date that happens on isn't on (or anywhere near) our anniversary, so be it! This year we went out for dinner and then went to see Once at a local theater. I would have no problem doing the listed activities on my anniversary day. That said, we aren't big into traditional celebrations, so neither of us would care if we had a "private" celebration or not. One year on our anniversary we were actually kid free all day and I spent 4 hours in DH's crappy, freezing cold truck while he interviewed for his now job. That was our one year anniversary I believe and I'll never forget it! We have gone apple picking for our anniversary every year (early October) and just started bringing her along. But this year was five years, and we have another baby on the way, so my mom came up and stayed the weekend with LO so we could go away just the two of us (the day after our anniversary). It was pretty amazing. </p> <p>But on the years we didn't go out alone we just plan on a nice dinner ordered in and a movie on the couch.
