I did when she was little, but not anymore. We have such hard water that everything comes out faded after just one wash. I didn't realize about the chemicals so I guess I need to start washing first.

I was just going to post this question myself! I've washed everything for LO so far. Today I got a cute cord dress from the Gap for her and didn't want to wash it because I didn't want it to get wrinkled. I didn't realize clothing had so many chemicals, so I will wash it.

If I'm testing for size, then I will let him try on the clothes before washing. Otherwise, it's always wash first before wearing. I'm not as careful with my clothes and only wash them half the time before wearing.

Yup, I always wash it. LO doesn't have sensitive skin, but I'm concerned of the chemicals and everything the clothes have been through.

I have to admit, I'm not *as* diligent as washing my own clothes before wearing.

@wahine08: It's true! (about the dust and chemicals). My cousin told me that they will spray chemicals (depending on the fabric) to keep moths and other bugs away. And they will also spray chemicals to keep clothes from wrinkling. I don't know what the chemicals are exactly or which ones they use for what purpose. But he just told me to make sure to wash everything before wearing, especially for kids. I don't always wash MY clothes though, especially things like formal dresses and such. But I will always wash kid's clothes.

Almost always. I have just put brand new dresses on her for professional photos because I didn't know which one I'd dress her in and didn't want to deal with ironing. But she only wears them for like 20 min. max. and then they get washed.

I always wash all new clothes, no matter what they are. Like a previous poster said above- these clothes sit in boxes in dusty dirty warehouses and get loaded on piles on the ground and have tons of chemicals around them to keep them "preserved." New clothes always feel grimy to me and have a weird smell.

BUT, I've been told this is insane and I'm a little over the top about it haha.

I always wash everything (except maybe socks?). I know I have super sensitive skin and often end up with a rash if I don't wash my own new clothes. I don't want to take the risk with DS.

I wash everything before I wear it especially for baby. I saw a clip on 20/20 a long time ago that was an eye opener. They tested clothes that had been tried on and found remnants of poop, germs, and even yeast infections. I still try on clothes before I buy them of course but wash it before I wear it. I think once in a while in an emergency situation we'll be okay but I just prefer washing everything first.

I had a similar situation a couple weeks ago. We were taking DS to a pumpkin patch and I recalled a cute Halloween colored scheme outfit he had that I wanted him to wear (orange and cream striped onesie with brown pants and an orange vest). I didn't wash it and put it on him and to the pumpkin patch we went. Thankfully, he didn't have an allergic reaction!

I normally wash his clothes before wearing though.

I always wash all of her clothes. My cousin owns a textile manufacturing plant and said that there are tons of chemicals involved when manufacturing clothes. Both of my kids have sensitive skin so we wash everything before they wear it. If you child doesn't have sensitive skin, you're probably ok!
