I've tagged along with DH and we both loved it. I wish I could go on all of them with him! But I can understand if it's just the family you nanny for, it might feel awkward for him.

Wow, I hope it works out for you! As a Nanny, I'm sure it's a little more awkward for him, but since he's invited, why not?

I always try to go on my DH's trips if it's somewhere I want to go and I can get off work. So far, we have always had a great time!

When we can. DH had to take some meetings in out Corporate Head office just outside of Toronto, so I hopped a ride and had him drop me off at my sisters house in TO while he's out at his hotel in the burbs :) I get a free ride to the city, he gets company on the drive and I'm not bored all day sitting in a hotel.

He used to go with me. Now it's harder, though because we have to board the dogs. Usually we would go out early or late so we could spend good time together. He loved going to Las Vegas with me, he always had something to do!

nope! when i travel, i usually go to the middle of nowhere so it'd be no fun for him anyway. when i was little tho, sometimes we'd go with my dad on his business trips like to orlando or fun places like that as a vacation.

Never, and I don't think we ever would. Neither of us would want to use up vacation days from our jobs sitting in a hotel while the other one worked all day, and we could only have fun together in the evenings. We like our vacations to be real vacations. Having said that, though, I do a fair amount of travel for my job, and I'd love it if my husband were in my hotel room when I got back every night. It's easier not to though; no need to find someone to take care of the animals if he stays home.

@mrs. bird: Maybe, but I don’t think so (which is what makes it so weird!). FIL is a professor so the conference panels step-MIL attends are all academic article review panels on very specific topics that she has said don’t interest her (they are the topics FIL specializes in). She also often tells people at the conferences she is my husband’s birth-mom when she is not (my husband is a professor too, so he is also usually at the conference as well). It’s weird all around.

When I have traveled for work, it usually comes out of nowhere and there is some huge problem that would require most/all of my time, so my husband has never come with. If there was more notice, we would definitely consider trying to make it into a vacation!

Yup! Used to tag along and we had some good times. More conferences than actually working.... So sad we can't do that anymore with the kids.... Maybe when they're older.

I don't ever travel, but DH might every once in awhile so we talked about making a family trip out of it (Flordia in Decemeber is an annual and that sounds wonderful!) However, this year I don't know how I feel about flying and traveling with a 2 month old!

We would tag along if either of us traveled somewhere cool! So far, I have not been interested in the places his conferences have been and vice versa, but if we were, I'd go and then do my own thing during the day like a mini vacation.

My step-MIL tags along to all FIL's work conferences and actually goes to the conferences which I think is really weird and controlling. She won't just go and then do things on her own.

I did not, and we've always regretted it!! He ended up being upgraded to a suite and didn't do anything at all at night... and I was home alone totally bored and missing him... From now on whenever Wagon Sr. goes on a trip the whole family will probably tag along as a mini vacation!

Hubby has never gone on any of my trips even though the option was there. When my dad had business trips, the whole family tagged along. It was how we got to travel so often and see so many places. I loved it!

i might have a work trip to go on in the near future & was given the option to bring DH along (we'd just have to pay for his airfare & transport), but DH doesn't seem to want to go. he thinks it's odd to go because it's a trip for my work, but i remember my parents making lots of their business trips into vacations growing up so it doesn't seem at all odd to me.

i should probably include that my job is a little different in that i'm a nanny, so i have a much different work dynamic than what most people would have on a business trip. i'd have lots of time off during this trip & even during my working hours, he could come hang out on the beach with us or go to the gym or do whatever. we all get along very well.

do you and your SO join each other on business trips? do you try to turn them into mini vacations?
