It seems all my clothes are dark anyway and after an initial wash they don't bleed so I wash it together. So normally combined, but sometimes we do it separately because DH needs something right then, or within a timeframe that doesn't work with my laundry plans, then its his job to do his own. We have two hampers in our closet. One for colors and one for whites. We run the colors once a week and the whites every other week or so. It's usually whoever thinks of it first that starts the laundry.
