For the most part! He tends to not like flowery things. We don't keep many scented things around but we both love the Christmas-time stove potpourri you can make.

My husband loves scents but doesn't really understand the only one at a time rule. We have a spicy orange candle in the main room and whenever we have company over he magically finds one of our other candles for the bathroom. It was only when we were saying goodbyes last month that I realized that our entryway smelled like lily-of-the-valley meets Shalimar. He claims to prefer the "layered" fragrance.

We pretty much agree that scents aren't necessary. lol

I have allergies to some so I'm pretty picky. We rarely have scented candles. I have one or two on hand that are leftover from years ago that I only use when the power goes out.

He would prefer a more scented laundry detergent, but some of them make me itchy so we usually go scentless.

@Mrs. Sunshine: Yeah, I just really can't with the scents. DH hates it because I can't even stand the scent of laundry detergent/dryer sheets so I get the unscented stuff. He complains because he likes his clothes to SMELL clean, and I'm like but...they ARE clean! They're just not scented! And if you have to smell your stuff to know if it's clean, you need to organize your clothes better!

We have different general preferences but we are always able to find something we agree on. This last summer we had Tahitian sunset and for the fall we have apple pumpkin.

Yeah luckily we tend to like the same scents. When Bath & Body Works has candles on sale we go in & sniff around and it seems like we always choose the same ones! :)

@Mrs. Sunshine: Kind of similar to you - we settled on a gingerbread scent that is sweet enough for me, and spicy enough for him. Which one did you find that you both like?

I don't think DH cares about scents, at all :silly: I have a few diffusers at home and I don't even think he notices! I don't wear perfume either.

He prob would not like overly strong floral scents.

Not at all. DH is perpetually trying new lotions and candles and they all make me sick. I would rather the house smell like dirty socks than any scented candle I've ever smelled. On the subway I'll choose to sit beside an unwashed homeless man over a perfumed woman, no contest.

We have different tastes but usually there's enough overlap to make it work. I prefer floral or citrus in the summer and pumpkin-y spicey scents in the winter. He generally prefers the linen-y type, cologne-ish, or sweets (like cake scented), none of which I love in general. But there are always a few that we can agree on. Though to be honest, since I'm the one who cares, it's more a matter of him deciding which of the ones I like he can stand. :)

No, DH is allergic to perfumes, so we have nothing scented. :( I looove the smell of Gain, but now my laundry just smells like nothing. I like a pretty wide range of scents, depending on the season.

@IRunForFun: we'll that stinks (haha get it? Lol) for a guy that considers himself a "manly - man" my DH likes air fresheners & candles waaayyy more than I do. He's kind of obsessed with them. I'm glad yours has learned his lesson

No. I absolutely can't stand artificial scents, they give me a headache. DH, on the other hand, likes air fresheners, candles, Febreze...ugh. I think he understands not to use them, now, though since my feeling ill outweighs his sense of smell.

As far as air fresheners and candles goes, DH prefers summery scents. Fresh linen, summer breeze, light flower scents. I don't dislike those, they are nice but in general I prefer warmer scents like vanilla & apple pie, they feel more homey to me but those scents are too "sweet" for DH & make him sick. If he does go for a warner scent he likes the cologne Snelling ones & those give me a headache.

Yesterday I finally found the perfect warm fall/winter/cuddly & homey scent that we both love. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy a few more candles in this scent tomorrow just in case they discontinue it lol

Do you & your DH agree on how your house should smell?
