We usually need a vacation from our vacation afterwards. </p> <p>We have a running list of places we want to see, and try to fit them based on time of year and how many days we have off. </p> <p>As for frequency, if we could travel every month or two, we would! I LOVE to travel and would jump at any chance to do so. I love the beach, visiting big cities (could never live there though), mountains, etc. I also like to plan about half the trip and let the rest just kind of fall into place. </p> <p>My husband however doesn't really see the point in traveling and is content to stay home or close to home. When we do go somewhere he prefers it to be cooler weather and he doesn't want to have to deal with people. He hates the beach and big cities. His idea of planning a vacation is planning how we're gonna get home. </p> <p>Frequency: This one we're kind of forced to agree on because of my husband's job. He only gets around 2 weeks of vacation time a year, one of which has to be taken as 7 consecutive days. And those are literally his only days off for the entire year without it being a huge expense. There's no such thing as a weekend so we can't take long weekend trips or even a regular weekend getaway. When he does get his vacation time it tends to be taken up by stupid things like getting wisdom teeth pulled. This year his time will be used when our baby arrives which isn't at all stupid but I still wish he had some time we could use for a getaway before the baby. BUT I absolutely love hanging out with the locals! YEs, I make friends with my seatmate on the plane if we're up for it. My husband would never even have dreamt of talking to people he doesn't know unless absolutely necessary. Sometimes we like to go somewhere easy and relaxing like a beach resort, where there isn't much sightseeing. Other times, we want to go somewhere where we can do lots of moving around...restaurants, sights, etc. we don't like rigid timeline vacations. We like to be flexible and take our time. For our honeymoon last year, DH and I went to Savannah, GA. It was only about a 4 1/2 hour drive for us (DH hates flying...It doesn't bother me). I loooved the coastal aspects to the town and all the cute shops. I enjoy laying on the beach and walking around town soaking up everything around me (and shopping of course!) She tends to prefer either sightseeing (i.e. tourism) or relaxation (i.e. relaxing at the beach).</p> <p>My vacation tastes are a little weird. I'd love to travel to an interesting city and have someone take me around... not to the traditional sightseeing spots, but to their favorite cafes and wine bars and restaurants! Yes it'd be great to have amazing coffee, wine and food... but mostly I'd be in it for the conversation. I'd especially love it if my hypothetical friend introduced me to other interesting people... perhaps even brought me to a dinner party or two?</p> <p>In terms of frequency, I would like to take one vacation a year of around a week in length.
