We usually buy a big item a month or two prior to Christmas, and that's our 'gift' to each other. I might buy him presents to open, but it's boring things like socks, underwear, undershirts, maybe a new shirt for work, belt, bottle of liquor... Then I just buy myself something nice and tell people that's what DH got me, so his family doesn't get mad at him for being lame.
