We had to set up recurring events in Google as well so we could remember to take out the trash, prep the recycling, do a load of laundry. Most of it was because we were so overwhelmed with a new baby, we'd forget! Now that we're used to it, it just happens on its own. He helps when I do deep cleaning of the house and also with dishes/laundry every once in a while. I try to shovel snow when I work from home during the winter and I also try to mow the back yard with our push mow while he does our huge front lawn during the summers. For major things like changing the furnace filter, cleaning the vent fan and things my DH will usually do these on his days off every month or two without me asking. If our place seems dusty I will mention to him to check the filter. (I'd like to think we are clever, not dumb!) Stuff like back-up the computer, clean our cars, clean the humidifiers, etc. For more long term to-do's we keep a list on a whiteboard hanging in our home office. Stuff like fix squeaky garage door, seal the patio, check basement for mold. Sometimes he does laundry, but he has a tendency to throw colors in with whites.. -.- So I usually have him transfer from washer to dryer. I was thinking of maybe setting up Recurring Events for chores in my gmail, with email reminders for each of us for the relevant chore. Can't decide if that's really clever or really dumb. Do you and your SO have a system for managing chores and todos? Please share!
