I've read quite a few studies that show that men don't think about this. Women only apply to something when they can tick off every qualification, while men apply to things where they only have a few. I'm always amazed by the lack of attention we put in our job descriptions. We just used the same experience description for three different levels. We also receive resumes from people with way more and way less experience.
