I have a lot of nieces and nephews, and we usually have a long email chain with suggestions from the parents for Christmas. I usually refer to that for birthdays. </p> <p>For the nieces and nephews in town, we usually give them experiences (like a trip to the zoo, bowling, ice skating, etc) because we don't have kids yet and we are considered "cool" to hang out with.
