My mum is great at listening and commiserating without immediately piling on the advice. I'm one of four, so she's pretty much seen it all when it comes to kids and is pretty practical and also recognizes a lot has changed in parenting since the 70s/80s.</p> <p>My MIL is very generous with the unsolicited advice. Which I generally ignore because she has one kid, who was very easy going, and she had never heard of the "witching hour" before.
