i'm paranoid and afraid i'll lose something (especially client files) eek. i backup numerous places, but here's what i typically do.

import into bridge
backup original files to external
backup original files to zenfolio
sort in bridge so i get my "keepers"
delete all images i'm not keeping, backup files i'm keeping to external, zenfolio, and dropbox
then start editing, all edited files get backed up on external, disc, zenfolio, dropbox, flickr, and unitprints.

It's automatically uploaded from my phone to Picasa. We pay for additional storage in their cloud.

@FutureMrsMcK: I bought a 3 terabyte external hard drive from Costco. I can't remember if it is a Western Digital or Seagate, but both are reliable companies. 3T sounds excessive, but I have all of my back up on there (in additional to a separate external hard drive). I have used 2T so far.

We have dropbox and iCloud and backup on both. I love it, I don't even have to think about it... they just magically get backed up :)

Yes, I back up my photos in an external HD and also in Dropbox. We paid for additional cloud storage with Dropbox and I think it's so worth it!

I back up my photos on an external hard drive and upload all of my edited photos to Flickr as an extra back up. It keeps the original file size, making it super easy for me to access and download any photo I want on any computer. I have a pro membership that allows for unlimited uploads at full res.

@FutureMrsMcK: I would recommend backing up on an external hard drive. The quality of the photos on Facebook and Shutterfly are a lot lower than the original files, and it will affect your ability to retrieve them back to your computer if you need the full file.

I upload them to a private FB album that only me, DH and his parents can access, and to a Shutterfly share site and I'm debating getting an external hard drive because only 2 pictures remain of me as a young child (the rest were lost in a waterbed explosion) and I'd be absolutely heartbroken if I lost my wedding pictures and pictures of DS.

Yes, they are on an external hard drive and we are also signing up for an online service I heard about from here. I'm super paranoid with my photos since they are so irreplaceable.

I always dump my photos to my computer and leave them on my computer and memory card until they're on my hard drive. Then, I'll move them off the memory card. I don't feel comfortable just having them in one place. I often wonder if paying for the cloud would be worth it for some of the best ones...
