I'm 30, and I was back to my pre-preg weight almost right away. I'm 6 months pp and I think I look better than I did pre- pregnancy. I'm 6 lbs lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, I am only 112 lbs now so I don't have any flabby bits and I think I'm more toned from always picking up the baby and carrying her carseat. I didn't work out during my pregnancy or after, but I am breastfeeding. I think it's genetic since my mom had 3 kids and she's pretty svelte.

@deerylou: you can exercise while EBF. I worked out/ran 4x/week on average and LO did not have a drop of formula until nearly 6 months. I also work full-time so at that point I had trouble keeping up and started giving 1 formula bottle/day, but he still gets BM 4 of 5 at 9 months.

To answer the original question, I do think I have my body back at 9 mo overall, but it did require a lot of work! My skin does seem a little stretchier on my stomach, but overall, pretty happy with it.

@matador84: Not so much . . . Although I will say that while I am not at my prepg weight (yet!), because I have my *shape* back, everyone thinks I have lost most, if not all, of the weight (and they keep commenting on how flat my tummy is . . . ). But like you, I have not worked out for fear of losing my already waning supply (I started to work out and my supply tanked), and but for that, I would have started working out months ago. I am at the point (LO will be 8 months tomorrow!), where I need to get my body back. I am o-v-e-r it, and ready to feel like me again. As soon as we get through LO's surgery next week, and after she is well in the clear, I can start to focus on me again.

@deerylou: I've been working out every day for the past month (30ds +p90x), was never a huge workout person before or during pregnancy, and my supply has not been affected at all. Like @rachiecakes: said I drink a TON of water because BFing makes me so thirst.

I've also done modified Paleo and it also has not affected my supply. DS is still EBF at almost 5.5 months!

I'm just about 5.5 PP and feel great. I still have a lil to lose to get to PP weight, but I think it's mostly because I've been working out and gaining weight. I can feel myself getting stronger. my goal is def to feel like myself again at 9 months (excl BFing) but realistically, I don't think I'll be 100% me until we wean.

I lost almost all the pregnancy weight in the first two weeks PP. I can fit back into all my size four clothes.

HOWEVER, I'm much more "squishy" now. I need muscle toning, for sure. I'm sure I could accomplish that in much less than nine months, if I had the time to work out - but seriously, who has time to work out with an infant?!

I would say that was somewhat true for me. I had my old shape 95% of the way back by 6 months pp and now at 10 months pp, I am definitely looking the way I did before baby, albeit a bit skinnier as I can't keep the weight from dropping off, presumably because I'm still breastfeeding.

I did go to the gym occasionally from about 4.5 - 6 months pp, but then travelling and moving got in the way and I haven't properly worked out since then. I never noticed a drop in supply though when I was working out...but then again, I tend to drink 3 litres of water per day, so maybe that had something to do with it.

I do, although I think some of it has to do with age too. Prior to 30, I could blink and lose 5-10 pounds. Now, not so much. This sentiment was echo'd by my OB when I mentioned I was surprised I wasn't dropping much pregnancy weight naturally. At about 9 months pp though, my body started getting more shapely again, even if I'm still at a higher weight.

Long story short; I don't think it just comes off as easily without work for those of us who are not under 30 ;/

Yep by 9-10 months I felt completely back to my normal self. I was breastfeeding the whole time and still am.

Now, I am 12 months pp, 10 weeks pregnant, breastfeeding, and working out every day and I'm 5 lbs below pre preg weight (with #1).

@deerylou: With my first, I exercised starting 4 months pp without it affecting my supply, and went onto breastfeed for 11-months. The end of our nursing relationship had nothing to do with the exercise. I did Jillian DVD's and went running.

I'm no longer nursing and am 10 months pp. I agree with the 9 months in, 9 months out...I finally dropped the last five pounds in the eighth month. My clothes fit at 4 months pp but definitely didn't look right. I would say I'm just about back to normal now.

@rachiecakes: Well, that gives me hope. I will chug whatever I have to chug in order to produce and maintain some sort of exercise routine. I've already had to cut back *so* much due to sciatica, and I can't wait to start normal amounts of cardio again.

I got super, super skinny about 6 months pp just with nursing. It was a little too much, honestly. I've put some back on, but I started working out lightly in the past few months with no damage to my supply. I'm 11.5 months pp, and I would say that my body looks almost the same as pre-preg, but there are things I would like to work on.

@deerylou: not everyone. I think the trick is to stay hydrated. For me, I had to drink a TON of liquids to produce, I was chugging water, seltzer and tea like it was going out of style. If I didn't I would be completely dry mouth/dry skin parched.

It worries me to know that your supply is threatened if you begin working out while breastfeeding. I didn't even stop to think about that. I fully intend to BF until DD is one year, if I can help it. However, I was also hoping to start exercising again, once I get the all-clear from my doctor.

Around 9 months I started to feel like myself again - weight was gone, I stopped leaking, hair stopped falling out, hormones under control but it wasn't until DS weaned that I really felt like my body was back to normal, like all mine again.

I list all my weight while nursing (just naturally) at about 10w Pp.. But it wasnt until I stopped nursing that I started to work out. Now I am no longer "fluffy or lumpy" at 6.5m PP. I could be better but I really am in no rush. Maybe by 9m I will be more motivated to perfect things?
