If you are a decent person to other people; generally you will be treated in kind and people will be more willing to do things for you/help you get ahead (which often seems like "good luck"). If you work hard, generally you will be rewarded in the long run. I really do think that we all go through hardships and bad things happen but if you work hard, treat people nicely, do good things, etc. then at some point and in many different ways, the same will come back. But I also think it's not entirely equal.
