I do! It's made up of several of my very close friends...we call it a wine club where we sometimes talk about books :) It's fun though, and gives us a set date to hang out with each other each month. We rotate the person who hosts, and that person either cooks or we order take out.

My book club works the same as krsmall, we rotate who will host, that person picks the book for the month and provides snacks and wine. We sit around and discuss the book briefly but usually end up talking about other things :). It's fun, and I like having other people give me ideas of what to read!

I just started one in my neighborhood. Normally the person holding the book club at their house will choose the book. The person's whose house it is at will provide light appetizers and wine. It moves from persons house to persons house so not one person is spending all the money on food/drinks. Good luck! Our book club is a lot of fun!

I started one when I lived abroad and made a lot of new friends that way. We took turns picking the book and hosting at our apartments/houses once a month. Our rule was that it had to be a book that no one had read. There were a few that made it into movies so we went to see the movies together, too. And most importantly, there was a lot of alcohol. Everyone always got smashed at book club. That's a fun rule, too.

I think the key is to pick books that have been made into movies. Then everyone can pretend to have done the reading.

I so want to be part of a book club! I am not a big reader but feel like a club would give me more incentive, plus I love hosting small parties like that!

I've never belonged to a book club but I love to read! So I put out a message on FB yesterday asking if anyone in my area wanted to start a new group and I actually got some takers!

Uhm, now what?

Haha, I guess I can do some googling as to how to set up a book club... but wanted some HB feedback and your knowledge! Any tips? Things you like/dislike about book clubs? Who chooses the books, do you take turns bringing food, rotate homes for hosting, how often do you meet, etc?
