Depends on the situation. I'm taking LO who will be 7.5 months to one next month because the mom to be specifically asked me to. (The shower is in another state, but I could leave a stash and take my pump for the weekend...but I didn't really want to. )

Only one, and only because the guest of honor insisted. LO was 5 months at the time.

I went to one a couple weekends ago and I took DS because the host said I should and the mama said I should. He was only 6 weeks old so I brought him along. My friend who the shower was for brought her 5 week old, so it was super fun seeing them together! If they hadn't specifically told me to bring him, I would have left him with DH to get a break :silly:

depends on the group/situation. usually i know when she's invited or welcome and now that she's a busy body at 16 months, it's easier to leave her at home if possible.

I have. It was a close friend, it was a 2 hour drive ( so a 6 hour event) and we were breastfeeding. She'd started solids but 6 hours would have been way too long not to nurse and I don't pump. LO is 15 months and still nurses 6 or 7 times a day so it would honestly still be tough for me to leave her home, but I would for up to 4 hours. If it was going to be longer than that and it wasn't a best friend that I know would love to have LO there, I'd just send my regrets. I'd always ask first no matter what though.

Once she's born, I'd only bring her if she was invited. I bring her now because I don't have much choice but to bring her everywhere I go. :P

If I were you I'd ask but make it clear that you understand if it's a no!

Baby - yes. Once he started walking, no. He would be bored and I would just end up chasing after him.

I think it depends so much on the group and the 'norm' that's already been established. I'm the youngest out of my cousins and extended family, so everyone had already started bringing their kids to everything - I will definitely bring my child along. With my group of friends, no one has kids yet, I most likely wouldn't bring my child (unless the guest of honor requested them to come).

I should say, I did bring her to one a few months ago, but it was the only time the guest of honor would get to meet her for a long time (she lives far away now) so I did put them on the spot about bringing her. I also wasn't sure Dh would be home that day, but didn't mention that to the host when I asked. She wasn't mobile then though.

Yeah I'm thinking it will be a daddy daughter day for them and mommy will have a relaxing time.

Only if they clearly invited. Doesn't matter if I'm breastfeeding, I'll pump and leave milk or solids or decline the invite.

Newborn or breastfeeding, yes. Toddler, no. I also have a boy and I feel like showers are "girl" things, but more so, I would rather enjoy myself and not chase him around.

If DH was available to watch LO I would keep her home. I just went to one last weekend and was conflicted about asking because DH had to work. I did ask and the host was completely fine with it. There were a ton of kids there! Infants to school age. :)

ETA: LO is 2 and was completely non stop the whole time! She was on her best behavior the whole time but I barely got to sit down and it was very tiring for this preggo. I would've definitely preferred to keep her home. ;)

There was a thread on this recently, and I said then that I only bring LO if she's invited by name. Like you, I think it puts the host on the spot when they're asked.

I took Liam to a couple when he was a newborn, but once he was a little older, I left him home with DH. It's nice to go alone and relax without constantly worrying about him.

If you are invited to a baby shower, would you bring your baby? Toddler? Would it matter if you are breastfeeding?

Just got invited to one in a home, host already has two LOs. I would of course ask the hostess first anyway, but I feel like if you ask they could feel obliged to say yes. C will be 11 months old already so I may just leave her with Dh.

What do you usually do in these cases? Fr my baby shower I wanted people to bring babies but I know not everyone feels that way.
