No, that's why we end up getting dental cleanings. My first dog fought it so much (whipped her head around if you came near her with the brush) that I kind of gave up in the whole thing.

I never have brushed our dogs teeth, we use two groomers and 1 does his teeth but that is probably only once a month. They are really white and we do the greenies and a rope toy which our vet recommended for his teeth. Should we be actually brushing them too?

No, we just give him lots of rope to chew. It seems to do the job since the very says his teeth look great.

@septemberlove: We do battle over the toothpaste. It is so funny to see her tongue lapping for the toothpaste as soon as she sees the toothbrush approaching!

I wish I was good enough to brush them every day! He gets his teeth brushed once a week. I do it one week and then the groomer does it the next week when he gets his nails done. He always gets a good score on his teeth at check-ups so I hope it's enough to keep him from having to be put under for a cleaning.

No, my vet suggested it once but my basset would never let me come near his teeth lol. He'd devour the toothbrush in a red-hot second!

So he gets dental bones... :-/

Our vet has been reminding us to do this, so I finally got her a Dr. Collins Perio for Kids toothbrush and got in the habit of brushing her teeth daily. She loves it! I don't want her to have to be put under for a teeth cleaning, plus now she has good breath.
