That is the best way to try new wines and some stores offer a great case discount. @mrbee - Union Square Wine has an amazing selection of very reasonably priced wine and they have several 25% off mixed case sales during the year. And they deliver to BK. You can call them and get on their mailing list. We love having wine on hand to open when people stop over. Lately he has been doing a mix of wine and specialty beers since we have an abundance of wine. We had to buy another wine rack! When we do buy wine it's usually by the bottle since it's generally a nice bottle he wants to save. Our liquor store gives a 10% discount off cases so it makes sense to buy that way; it not like the wine will go bad before we drink it and we have a walk-in pantry so we have the space to store it. Whenever we have a big party, we usually buy a case of red and a case of white (I hate the idea of not having enough!) and then drink off of that for a looooong time post-party.
