I don't like receiving gifts. Hubby and I've been through way too many special occasions, that I prefer "experience" or "goods." This past birthday, he wanted to buy me an iPad. But, instead we went camping for the weekend with our furbabies. I have access to an iPad at work, and while it's fun for a while; I could already forsee myself not using it after the initial appeal wore off. I sit in front of a computer all day so I barely touch my MacBook when I get home; I didn't see the need to have another version of that for so much $$$.

The last couple of Christamases, we've made into a fun shopping experience for both of us. We go through and do an inventory of things we "need." Then we add in a few smaller "want" items. It's the fun of opening various gifts around Christmas time; moreso than special "gifts."

We also didn't do wedding gifts (aside from buying a Nintendo DS for him and a Kindle for me with wedding money) nor did we do anniversary gifts. We thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon and anniversary trip instead. :)

We don't really buy gifts seeing throughout the year we might get a thing or two we both want (say for the house etc)

@maisymay - Have you seen Wicked yet? I LOVE that musical! We saw it on Broadway and when it came to Durham.

We used to do BIG gifts - our budget was like $300 for Christmas and always went over our $100 budget for birthdays.

This year, we have decided to be good about gifts - our anniversary is in Oct, my b'day is in Nov and his b'day is in Dec....then there's Christmas. So, we're packed pretty tight at the end of the year. We did a nice dinner for our anniversary. For our birthday's, we'll probably get each other something small and order pizza. I'll make him a cake and he's going to try to make me a rice crispy treat cake I saw on Pinterest. :D We have a baby to save for now!! Yay! :)

For birthdays, we tell each other what we want/need (eg. last year hubs wanted a new custom made suit). For Christmas, we end up purchasing something we both want/need (eg. this Christmas, we might get a new laptop). For anniversary, we do a nice dinner and exchange cards.

Husband has me buy something for myself for special events/holidays (since I'm not big on surprises). My gift to him is my love. :P

We give gifts for birthday, anniversary, Christmas, and usually a few small just becauses. For holidays when we are both giving we try to put some limit on it. This year we are buying tickets to see Wicked in May and so are limiting our anniversary and Christmas to $15 each. Our anniversary is 6 days before Christmas and we'd rather spend the money on other people. :)

I love presents, and have a running list of things to buy for people and things I would like to receive. My husband is awesome when he knows what to get, so I decided I wanted some jewelery from a specific designer, he buys me a new piece once a year or for a milestone gift. I also keep journals that I gift to him once they are filled, it's kind of a running love letter.

I'm not to big on gifts but DH loves gifts and celebrating. I think this has to do with how we were brought up. My parents never celebrated birthdays or Christmas, whereas his family celebrates every event imaginable. My bday is coming up and it really upsets him that I don't want to do anything haha.

Sometimes, but now we just mostly exchange cards with something nice written them. There isn't much either of us really want or need, and when we do we just get it ourselves. I do love getting gifts, though, no matter how small.

We always exchange gifts, especially for Christmas. Both of our birthdays and anniversary are in the same month, so in the past we've done a big vacation instead of presents, to celebrate all three occasions.

We haven't been together that long, so yes. I can't really imagine not doing them. I think the gesture of giving presents is important, more than the physical object, so I think we'll continue to do them. I love the process of finding the right thing, wrapping it up nicely, and seeing his reaction. (Sometimes the present is theatre tickets or a weekend away or something). We'll see if that changes once the baby arrives next year!

Yes we still do although we may have skipped a few last year when the LO was born. We have been together almost 14 years so it is getting hard to be creative, though!

Mr. Bee and I are very low key and don't really buy each other gifts anymore. For special occasions, we usually just go out to dinner or see a show. Mr. Bee is also extremely difficult to shop for because he doesn't want anything!

I love buying gifts so I never thought I'd become one of those people who don't really care (I don't care about receiving gifts and nearly forgot my birthday this year until I was reminded by some friends).

Do you and your SO still exchange gifts?
