He actually likes them almost as much as his Thomas trains. He loves to wear dress up shoes and read about Cinderella. I hate gendered toys too! Toys are for everyone! I feel like boys are judged more. Would anyone give a parent grief if a little girl wanted to play with a truck? They would probably think it was cute!<br /> There was a great comic strip once about a little boy playing with a doll. An adult sees it and says "aren't you afraid he's going to grow up and be..." And the boys dad says "what? A father?"<br /> Dolls teach kids to be nurturing in my opinion. Some of DS's favorite toys are right now are the tea party, Melissa and Doug Cookie baking set, the dress up box, the play kitchen, etc... he also loves cars and balls, and for Christmas he's getting both a doll and a mini basketball hoop. It's turning out SUPER cute! We were at MIL's house working on it, and my nephew (almost 4) saw us working on it, and was soooo jealous. He was playing with it while we were working on it, and when he asked us what we were doing/who it was for we told him it's a surprise present for his sister's birthday (because she was around too, but super oblivious). He kept asking when we were going to get him one - he was so sad!</p> <p>So, I say go for it! I really dont believe in gender seperation when it comes to toys so he gets both (well as much as you can get a 16 month old). He gets a lot of gender neutral toys too.
