Singers often do this for public performances like SNL, etc (hence Ashlee Simpson's slip up). So did she lip sync? no... she was actually singing. But she was being backed up by herself, pre-recorded. </p> <p>That being said... I don't care that much. It does make me respect her a little less as a vocalist since Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor both did not have a backing vocal track.
