I'm into birthdays and celebrations but this never even crossed my mind. If there's a reason like you said for your mom, or if you're spouse's birthday gets overshadowed by a kid's birthday or something I understand but for no reason, it's not for me. She has a January birthday, and my brother and I were never able to go to her party because we lived across the country from each other (she is quite a few years younger than us and always spent every second she could with us when we were around) - so we always had a half-birthday when we came to visit in the summer. She would give us "half" presents haha. Half a $10 bill, and then my brother would the other half for his half birthday lol. Or half used gifts- ie eBay finds, half a cake, half a candy bar. Those days were marked with decorated lockers and balloons. A good friend of mine share birthdays/ half birthdays. Our bday greetings to each other are pretty ridiculous as we go back and c firth wishing each other happy bday/ half bday. </p> <p>Pretty soon my mom's half bday is coming up and she's feeling sad about her upcoming birthday. Her mom amd grandma both died at the age she will turn later this year. I am going to send her something to commemorate her half bday. She will probably think it's silly, but that's the point because on her actual birthday I think she will be somber.</p> <p>Half-birthday are really just another opportunity to celebrate someone. Do you have fun with with half-birthdays? </p>
